Kentrell, Thomas & David practically feel like family now. They enhanced and already wonderful stay (2 stays!) and we will definitely be back again and again.

I love this place. We stayed on the 4th floor where the rooms are unique, not generic boring hotel rooms. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. The stay is directly across from the parking lot which is very convenient.

Cool updated comfy spot. Breakfast was limited and over priced

Staff is amazing. Super friendly and accommodating. Place is adorable, doesn't feel like a regular old hotel. Had a small hiccup with the room, through no fault of their own, and they instantly made everything more then right. Location is great. Short walk to any of the good spots, but the street itself is very quiet.

There's nothing to this place. Service is nothing to speak of (including the lazy reply to this review). It looks charming in pictures, but it's not. Definitely don't even think about it for anything outside of a balcony room. As an IHG member, I arrived and realized I should've booked up the street at the Kimpton, but they refused to cancel my reservation at check-in. They apparently need the business.

There's no amenities to speak of either. The rooms are spartan (pretty much nothing provided, and what is provided is bolted onto the walls) and are lazily maintained. Here's some additional fun facts: for the left (South) side of the building, there's a garbage truck that services the surrounding buildings in view and hearing of all room windows around 3 am. Additionally, housekeeping at this hotel appears to come between 8:30 am to 10:30 am. They run around slamming trash cans and knocking on doors during that time apparently to remind people they have to check out (what is this, a dorm?). You can hear it all. Charming indeed.

Wouldn't stay again, and did not want to when I first saw it in person. This property is resting on days past, with top reviews mentioning things they don't provide anymore (to be clear, no free breakfast or croissants).

We stayed here and another larger hotel, we’re coming back to this one. Love the large size room and hardwood floor. Very cozy and convenient.

I am truly happy for choosing this hotel. The room was beautiful and cosy, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were just so kind. Everything is well organised and their lobby is beautifully decorated. Air conditioning worked well, it was clean. Great location, short walk from good breakfast - Mother's and the Ruby Slipper, Canal Street and all the iconic restaurants. We will definitely stay with them next time.

Came in for one night only and I'm so glad I stayed here. Kentrell, Mr. Thomas, Adrain and my birthmark twin welcomed me and took care of me for 24 hours. I got the tea from Kentrell on Mardi Gras, Mr. Thomas beaded me up and Adrain informed me on the local happenings for Mardi Gras. I came for a foodie 24 hours and I'm trying to get back to enjoy the festivities because of these beautifully wonderful people. This just may be my new spot in New Orleans.

My favorite IHG hotel in New Orleans. The customer service is kind and dependable. St. James has a cozy charm feel with lovely room essentials. It’s in a great location downtown within walking distance of everything one would need to experience the city in its fullness! There is accessible parking; however, I highly suggest their valet. St. James, what a gem!

We just celebrated my 50th in NOLA and stayed at the St. James. I usually don't like being on this side of Canal, but it's close enough to the action to be walkable and far enough away to not be in the noise. The staff was great. The GM loaned us is personal umbrella because it was pouring the day we arrived and all of their house umbrellas were out for the day. They have a steakhouse connected that's only open for dinner and a bar that's open for small breakfast items and drinks at night. But that's not worrisome because there SO much to walk to including a market for snacks. My only "whoa" moment - the coffee at the bar in the morning is not free refills so the 5 cups (2 original and 3 refills) cost us over $30) we'd have gotten the espresso drinks had we known LOL. It's vacation, so it is what it is in a hotel - just warning future guests.

Hotel with potential, due to the charm of some older architectural features but lacking finesse. Anyone with asthma or who must stay here should consider asking for a room not connected to the courtyard smoking area (our current situation). Our room was located on the first floor with a window directly connected to that courtyard where people take their smoke breaks. I understand New Orleans as a whole is still very smoker friendly despite recent laws, but the second hand smoke exposure immediately in and around hotel grounds is the primary reason I would seek out another place or an Airbnb for a future stay. Our room was also showing signs of wear and tear, a few couple-inch holes in the wall, water leakage behind the toilet, and a bathtub stopper that would not work (making it impossible to take a bath). Pros: the hotel is pet friendly, the staff are pleasant and there is a park nearby for walking your pets.

I have stayed at the St. James more than once. The hotel is quaint but as in many reviews cited is in need of some renovation, and service is not even adequate. The Hotel is in a much preferred quieter area than closer to Burbon. The top floor balcony rooms are the best in this hotel. Since my last stayJune 2023, the Hotel I am said to say isn't improving. This trip Jan 2024 I was in room 402.
There is never hot water service for even a cup of tea before bed. The sad little Kuerig is not going to cut it for the price of the room.
We had a mouse in our room, this trip, which I am hoping was due to the cold and construction going on. Anyway we slept with a light on and notified the front desk. No offer of compensation for inconvience was made, so I see how that is.
I also seem to be paying on average a bit more for less service, but I will take that up with IHG.
Unfortunately, I think I will find a new place to stay or go back to the Crown Plaza this June.
