I have had a near 25 year relationship with this hotel. Visiting periodically, some for short stays and some for extended stays. They have continued to rise to the occasion of exceeding my expectations.

Love the presence of locally distilled spirits in the great bar.

Great room and service. Although I expected the room to be a bit bigger and a microwave oven in the room would be nice. The hotel has a vintage look and atmosphere which matches the vibe of the culture of the area. The location was excellent, right at the center of excitement. A lot of visitor spots and restaurants are in a walking distance. Definitely recommend staying there.

This was my first time staying at International House Hotel, but won’t be my last. Check-in & check-out were seamless, the location is quite safe, it’s an easy walk to the Quarter, rooms were quite comfortable & the bar, Loa, has a lovely ambience. During my stay, there was a St. Joseph’s Altar in the lobby, which showed me that the hotel keeps the culture & unique traditions of New Orleans alive. The rooms were nicely appointed & my mattress was just right; not too hard & not too soft. I always appreciate rooms with mini refrigerators, hair dryers, an iron & an ironing board. My only suggestion would be to have a lighted makeup mirror, as the lighting in the room was a bit too dark for me. WiFi worked well throughout my stay. The permanent Banksy exhibit is fun to browse. I loved the mosaic art in the elevators as well. The staff at reception was always helpful & cheerful, with the exception of the woman with the glasses who checked me out on Wednesday morning; she was slightly surly. Eric & Taylor, who manned the Loa bar, were wonderful & made elegant cocktails. My main compliment, however, is for the owner, Sean. I planned to attend the St. Joseph’s Night event in Central City. Though it was easy to Uber there, I was worried about catching one back to the hotel, as the streets surrounding the event would then be blocked off & the area was known to be a bit unsafe. I didn’t want to walk around after dark in an area that I was unfamiliar with. Sean suggested that I call the hotel if there were any problems catching an Uber back; he said that someone would come & pick me up. THAT is customer service! Luckily, I was able to get an Uber back, but it’s always reassuring to know that the hotel is looking out for you.

Our experience started out poorly. The guy working the front desk on March 6, 2:40pm assured us he moved our reservation back a day but when we showed up, it turns out he never actually updated it in the system or did anything. Luckily, the lady (Shay?) went above and beyond to get the issue fixed and even let us check in early. The rooms here are luxurious, quiet, high ceilings, and the hotel has a great vibe and was very accommodating throughout our entire stay. The location is good especially if you don't want to stay right in the Quarter, it's only a short walk to Canal St and everything else. However there is no parking and the closest garages are $40+ a night so plan accordingly. I would definitely stay here again because of the great service and nice rooms.

i’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in New Orleans- this one is by far my favorite! the atmosphere and the rooms have the perfect ambiance and decorations… but the best part- the staff! each member is always smiling and sooo welcoming- but by far - Drew is the best!! he goes above and beyond to be welcoming and provide you with any and everything you might need- while being professional and respectful to!! i don’t think my experience would be half of what it was if he wasn’t there!!

The location was perfect for me and what my main priority was.

The front desk and bar staff are very pretentious and unwelcoming. Particularly, the evening gentlemen (not Roman, the older one) and the bartenders were so pretentious it was unbearable.

The drinks at the bar were good, and I enjoyed that they had a display, but I was unaware of how religious the hotel was before booking...

The is a hotel in desperate need of updates, though. The carpets are worn and need to be replaced. The floor of my hotel room had dips and wasnt even... the windows are super thin and old and there was mold in the corners. Both elevators were very squeaky and made me nervous.

Also! I want to echo what other reviews have said about their "daily amenities fee" they have no pool, no spa, no room service and yet I was charged $70 for an amenities fee?? They didn't tell me that the charge was coming and just charged my card the morning of my last stay!!

When I asked the woman about it at the front desk, she said that they took the fee out of the deposit taken for incidentals.... I was told that deposit was going to be returned but it was not....

I was very happy with everything until they threw in the hidden fees so now I'm writing this review.

As a woman traveling solo for work though I felt safe but that's the bare minimum!

They lie about the daily fee. My purchase receipt says $15, yet front desk said it’s $17. This was conveniently close to Canal St and Bourbon St. I thought the hotel was super quiet, cozy room, pretty lobby, nice bars, informative staff. My water didn’t get exceptionally hot and my hair dryer made and awful noise, but those were the only hiccups

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! I recently booked two nights at this hotel with my kid. I was provided a room on the 11th floor (top floor). A little after midnight I was awakened by this weird noise. The room did not have windows and the entrance door remained locked. After hearing the noise for the 3rd time, there was an opening of this odd door leading to the rooftop. I seen a sky view when the door opened. After screaming and grabbing my phone to dial 911, the door closed. With the 911 operator on my mobile phone, I called the front desk from the room phone. When the guy came up he stated, “I know who that is”. I asked who is it, he replied “there is a guy staying in the penthouse”. My son and I was moved to another room and I checked out by 8am. My biggest concern is how the hotel handled this situation. It came off as if this has happened before, like a cover up.

I am taking necessary actions on my end. Just be careful and avoid this hotel if possible.

Staff was pleasant and helpful. Room had larger than expected bathroom, although first night hot water was more lukewarm than hot. Front desk was notified the next morning as we headed out for the day and issue was fixed by the time we returned in the evening. I noticed a few areas that were in need of attention, worn carpets in lobby, small tear in window curtains but nothing that was worth being disappointed or upset by. I wish there had been coffee in the room but it is available in the lobby in the morning. Even better coffee just half a block away at Nostalgia ????
Bar space was nice and not obnoxious. Windows are thin so street noise was louder than expected on the third floor. Tbh, we were so exhausted each night we still slept well despite the noise.

THOSE SERVING in the U.S. MILITARY and FEDERAL WORKFORCE- Avoid This Property and that of Loft 523. The Hotel managers claim to not have reservations made by federal workers and those in uniform...using the required reservation system.

Loft 523 and International Hotel management are pretty antagonistic in saying (by telephone) that they do not have your reservation. They then demand you make a separate and personal reservation with them...voiding the federal and military confirmed reservation. The end result, they can get a higher nightly rate for their rooms, leave those serving in uniform and federal workers with no reservation on file as they stand there at the front desk...with no alternative to lodging.

The location is fantastic. Was here for Mardi Gras and was able to walk to all the parades and all the best restaurants.

The lobby is beautiful and the bar tender was very kind - drinks were very good.

The front staff was very kind and accommodating.

My only issue was the room. As you can see it’s a great city view. But the rooms were outdated and honestly felt very dirty.

It’s muggy and feels humid inside of the rooms and carpets seem like they need a deep clean.

Overall it was a good stay, but plan on small rooms that might not be the cleanest.
