Pros:
1. The bar cocktails were really great and the staff really nice. The bar/restaurant vibe is super cute.
2. The food was also really great especially the Poboy and the Loaded fries.
3. Location was pretty close to everything.
Cons:
1. I am having difficulty processing what I paid for and my experience at this Hyatt. My stay was truly sub standard.
2. We spoke to the front desk about the noise from the street, they offered for us to move, which we didn't as we already settled in. In hindsight I should have moved as the noise was at a level where you would think we had no windows.
3. The shower kept leaking and making a pool of water on the floor.
4. The toilet got clogged and after fixing the bowl was left in a disaster for the rest of the stay. (see attached)
5. The shower was never cleaned properly and had mold (see attached)
6. Upon checking out, apparently only the noise complaint was recorded in the system after I explained the details to someone at the front the evening of 4/1. She said we will chat with the Housekeeping Manager in the morning, that never happened.
7. The person who handled the checkout said she was refunding us one night stay. The refund didn't reflect such. (Update 2/9: Without any communication thr amount which was refunded was reversed to my surprise upon checking my account, supposedly as it was refunded to the wrong card. I only found this out after calling in to query. I'll see if it returns to the right card)
All this to say, will I stay again, No.
However, we were placed in a room facing Iberville Street and were completely astounded that any guest would be booked into a room on such an indescribably loud street.
We were fully prepared to have loud nights staying in the French Quarter, but the noise coming off of the street was absolutely awful. I described it as trying to sleep in the middle of the dance floor at the loudest club you’ve ever been to. My husband described it as trying to sleep in the middle of a war zone. The rattling of the windows and shaking of the entire room was horrible. I have a brain tumor and am easily susceptible to migraines. The noise from the music base not only set off unimaginable migraines, but made me sick to my stomach because it was inescapable. We were beyond shocked that any guest, let alone Hyatt members and World of Hyatt credit card holders; people who have chosen to be loyal to one hotel brand, would be booked into such a terrible room.
After our second night, we debated whether or not to ask about changing rooms, but we decided we would tough it out as we only had one night left and are ultimately not ones to complain. On our last night we had to wake up at 3:00am to catch a 6:00am flight. Unfortunately, it was on a Saturday night which was the loudest that we experienced. We didn’t get even 30 seconds of sleep because the level of noise was unfathomable. I even took the couch pillows and placed them on the bathroom floor, just so I could have somewhere to lay down away from the rattling window facing the street. As you can imagine, not getting any sleep made for a horribly exhausting day of travel.
My thought is that no Hyatt employee has ever slept in or even stepped foot inside of this room at night or they would never place a guest here.
I have visited New Orleans in the past and stayed on Saint Ann Street, even more in the heart of the French Quarter, and never experienced even a tenth of the noise we experienced at the Hyatt.
I have two family members who consistently hold Globalist status each year and have pleaded that they never stay the Hyatt Centric French Quarter because of what we experienced.
We have had positive experiences at many other Hyatt and Hyatt partner hotels, however I’m deeply saddened and disappointed to have had this experience. I hope you will take this feedback into consideration when placing guests into this room or any room along Iberville Street in the future.
Hotel was clean and bed comfortable, staff are very friendly and decor is beautiful. Highly recommend.
