This lounge restaurant was renamed to The Post Room recently from its former Beacon Lounge. The food is great but seems a little pricy for what you get. The service is however excellent, and service fee is included in the bill. The whole place has a classic antique look and feel to it. It's a quiet escape from the busy Powell Street that is easily accessible for classy and elegant dining experience.

It's difficult to find a restaurant that opens between lunch and dinner in San Francisco. But I am so glad The Post Room takes our dinner order at 3: 45 PM even though the kitchen reopens at 4 PM. （Just in case you wonder, we are on a diet that we tried to eat dinner before 4 pm ) to stay healthier.
I love the restaurant vibe and decor, It's inside the previous Sir Francis Drake hotel ( now Beacon).
Love the cocktail (just got back from London and realized Londoners don't know how to make good tequila base cocktails) , so a very simple Paloma makes me feel super satisfied.
Service Fee already included, and we love all the staff very much.
I enjoy spending my early dinner here very much, hope I could come back for the Starlight show some day.
By the way, I am local, and one of my favorite things is to explore all the hotel bars, because they have the best decor and the bar always open.

Lovely surprise! You never know what to expect from a hotel lobby bar but this place really delivered on flavours. The cucumber and prosciutto salad was magic on a plate. We paired it with ahi tuna and prosciutto flatbread, both of which were excellent. Service the couple of times we went was inconsistent but still worth checking out. Be sure to head to the rooftop bar (Starlight Room) for cocktails afterward. Fabulous up there.

The service at The Post Room is as impressive as the food and entertainment. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring, ensuring every visit is memorable. Our waiter was Sally was amazing!

For anyone in San Francisco, whether you're a local or just passing through, a visit to The Post Room is a must. It offers an unbeatable combination of exquisite food, enchanting live music, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I'm eagerly looking forward to my next Saturday night there!

Excellent place for a great meal, cocktails and live music. Service is spectacular as well.

Overall the food is good, but the service needs to get better to match the prices they charge.

The food was generally well cooked and while not excellent, it was consistently nicely done, minus a few basic errors (like leaving the starter under the hot lamp too long so a skin formed on the Romesco).

The service let this experience down. The female waitress we had (Benedith?) was excellent and very well trained, but the other male members of staff significantly less though. Our waiter (Danill) made a series of screw ups from having no idea what cut of steak was being served, through to clearing my partner's plate while I was still eating, and messing up our drinks order twice.

At one point, we saw the barman (who was pretty loud) casually drag a loaded bin across the dining room floor to empty it while we were eating which didn't seem professional.

Since the City has allowed our beautiful world class City to be ruined it is wonderful to see what was once old is now new again. A incredibly beautiful vintage hotel, live music, fantastic service by Tessa a truly beautiful hospitality professional and Zach a true manager that comes out to ensure Tessa is being supported to provide loving care for all the guest. My first time at the restaurant was an excellent experience. We had a large group and they took exceptional care of us. Great cocktails and great food. I would definitely go again.

Bartender extraordinaire Anson is an amazing mixologist. The beauty of this renovated bar combined with Anson’s house made mixers and bitters takes you back to the way a bar experience should be. You cannot come to SF and miss this newly renovated gem. Plus the five star service cannot be beat. Cheers

We visited The Post Room after dinner in the neighborhood and it was an great way to top off the evening! This hotel is beautiful and the bar is ornate. The drinks were incredible and the bartenders were very attentive. My friend enjoyed the Paloma and
I tried The Baron in the Trees, which was unique and delicious. Looking forward to returning to try more interesting cocktails next time I’m downtown!

Absolutely sit at the bar, order dealers choice, and relax. Especially, Fridays and Saturdays with their live piano. The staff are incredibly down to earth with aristocratic flare. Thank you Zach, JD and the rest of the staff for an incredible stay.

A great addition to Union Square! The Post Room has an excellent atmosphere for both locals and visitors. I just stopped by for their new tea service, it was exceptional!

Great ambiance, top notch service, friendly team, good food and have great selection of wine ! They are currently running a promotion “$100 bottle of Rose with a dozen of fresh oysters” which I highly recommend. Special thanks to our server Tessa & Manager Zach for being extra attentive to our needs.

Decided to have a night cap before we headed up to bed and ended up staying for a couple of hrs. The drinks were absolutely amazing, the atmosphere was fabulous a calm relaxing vibe, and the bartenders were awesome JD and Sasha were fun, easy going, and personable. They gave us great recommendations for local restaurants and attractions in the area a definite perk. We will definitely be back!

It was amazing! Such a good vibe. I had the La Accabadora cocktail. Like a dirty martini but SO MUCH BETTER! Def recommend.

Tremendous experience all around. If you've never had grilled avocado, don't pass on it now. We decided this was our splurge dinner for the week and went for the home-made pasta. yum! Service was excellent and the espresso martini was the cherry on top!

Myself and my husband stayed at the beacon grand for 3 nights and on the last night we had to try the Post room and my god it did not disappoint. The whole feel of the place is just fab. The decor , and restoration of the bar is wow. But thats only the start of it ... Not just a pretty face/bar. The quality of the cocktails are second to none . The manager was so welcoming and JD the star of the show , displayed some serious skills , like a magician creating magic.. we tried a number of cocktails!!! But my all time fav of the night was a first, the frangelico sour , just unreal it needs to go on the menu. This place made our last night in SF so memorable. Thanks so much guys ⭐

I recently dined at The Post Room and it was an exquisite culinary experience. The ambiance was charming, complemented by attentive service. The menu showcased a delightful array of dishes, each a masterpiece of flavors and presentation. The manager,Zach was so attentive so thank you again. Will be back soon !
