There was a B-day party on the back and they were loud, it was impossible to listen to the music, let alone having a quiet conversation.
Top it off with a nice flan for desert and you're in the promised land ????. I recommend this place. I really don't think you'll be disappointed. And if you are... Well you can't please everyone ????. Go there and enjoy some great food!!! Oh yeah and in the evenings, especially on weekends they have guy who plays Spanish guitar music while you're dining. Definitely makes the atmosphere. Service people are very nice. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I do.
The folks at our table that orders the tapas got their food in a reasonable amount of time. I and another person who ordered an entree waited several minutes after being served, and then one person got their entree, I still did not. By the time I received my entree - a salmon fish special- the others were finishing up their meal. My fish was very undercooked, raw on the inside. I thought of asking for it to be redone, but figured we would then be late let for the play.
The server seemed harried, and the kitchen overwhelmed. So even though they are convenient for the Capitol Stage, I don’t recommend going there prior to a play as the waitstaff and kitchen are not up to the task.
I would suggest sitting outside as well - inside it is very loud as the tables are close and there is nothing on the walls or elsewhere to absorb the sound. So people shout to make themselves heard, which adds to the problem.
There are better restaurants around midtown. The pros: The atmosphere is nice here, and the service and plating were good.
Would work for an acceptable date night in a pinch, but I was fairly underwhelmed. For the cost, I think Alaro has a similar vibe with substantially better food.
If you are really looking for traditional and good Spanish food go to Esperanto in San Francisco
We came for my husband’s birthday last night and got the best of the best, both in food and in service. We had delicious wine recommended by the waiter. Menu included champignons, eggplant, chef’s Gambas, and the amazing beef tips in plum sauce. But our favorite is the mussels which bring down the house.
This is one of our favorite Sacramento restaurants. Enjoy!
