Charmante auberge de jeunesse à la déco originale, installée dans une ancienne école. On la repérera grâce à sa jolie façade jaune pâle. Chambres privées et dortoirs de 8 lits se partagent deux salles de bains communes. Egalement 2 suites avec baignoire. Grande cuisine tout équipée (gâteau maison préparé tous les matins !). Espace détente avec petite bibliothèque à l'étage. Bon resto sur place, doté d'une charmante cour intérieure. Seul bémol, l’animation de la rua Santa Maria qui peut chatouiller les oreilles sensibles le week-end. Excellent accueil.

A hostel az óváros legnépszerűbb utcájában található. A környéken rengeteg étterem és bár található, ez éjszaka zavaró lehet, mert az utcai szobákba felhallatszik az akár késő éjjelig tartó mulatozás. A hostel egy nagy régi épület szép autentikus berendezéssel. A konyhában sok edény van. A szobák egyszerűek,de megfelelőek. Minden tiszta. A személyzet kedves, barátságos.

I wish I knew this was here and not the other hostel I booked. Booking dot com let me down massively on hostel choice in Madeira.

The position is in a lovely street with plenty of activities. This has a huge advantage but it is also a bit noisy. Anyway, it is more than acceptable. The toilettes and showers seem in number dimensioned correctly because, I've never had found occupied when I needed.The showers lacks a bit of privacy because there is just a curtain splitting with the rest of bathroom. The beds are comfortable and there is big locker for each one.

Not the best solution but from the options we had when we booked it was the most okay one. The rooms and the common rooms were not sparkling clean but it was bearable. The stuff was really helpful and polite.

Pro: The location was central to everything and on restaurant row. Also, the bathrooms were very clean.

Con: The room was infested with mosquitoes, and there was no fan or air conditioning to cool the room down. Also, the central location was great during the day, but terrible at night as people were drunk and yelling on the streets until 4 am on Friday and Saturday.

Overall: I dreaded going to the hostel everyday because the room was no respite from the outside world. The heat + the bugs made us all miserable.
