HOTEL MEDITERRANEO * * * *

- the showers in the premium room are badly designed. There's no door, so the water spills out onto the bathroom floor. Even with putting a towel down, it gets soaked. Not to mention our showerhead was broken.
- the in-room air conditioning was off, on a weekend where the high hit 25 degrees celsius. When we asked, they said they did not turn on the A/C until later in the year... but our rooms were much warmer than the lobby and common areas, so...
- Service was really stiff and uninterested. For the first 12 hours of our stay, there was a loud, dull whooshing noise in our bathroom, almost like a pipe behind the wall was open or leaking. When I went to report it to the front desk staff, stressing that it wasn't impacting our use of the bathroom, but wanted to tell them in case they had a leak, the concierge shrugged at me. On another occasion, we grabbed drinks at the beautiful, but overpriced rooftop bar - the staff brought one glass of wine but not the other for the table next to us - baffling.
There were plenty of other small issues - nothing critically bad, but for the several hundred euros per night, I'm confident there are better hotels in Rome, particularly if you don't need to be centrally located by the train station.
