As I stepped into the fitness studio at the Generator Hotel, I was immediately struck by the chill, relaxing ambiance. The soothing presence of the hotel's pool and the lush greenery surrounding the space created a tranquil atmosphere that instantly put me at ease.
It was the perfect setting for Muv fitness full body fitness class, which I had been eager to try. Flor, the charismatic and knowledgeable instructor, greeted us with infectious energy and led us through a dynamic, challenging workout.
Her expert guidance seamlessly blended strength training, cardio, and functional movements, targeting every muscle group. Flor's attention to detail and personalized approach ensured that each participant was able to push their limits while maintaining proper form.
The class was not only physically demanding but also mentally invigorating. Flor's motivating cues and the supportive camaraderie among the participants created an environment that was both empowering and uplifting. I left the session feeling rejuvenated, stronger, and eager to return.
The chill vibe of the Generator Hotel complemented the transformative workout experience perfectly. We took a coffee afterwards at their serene pool and the lush greenery surrounding the fitness studio provided a tranquil backdrop that nourished both my body and my mind.
If you're seeking a full body fitness class that challenges you while immersing you in a rejuvenating setting, Flor's class at the Generator Hotel is an absolute must-try. It's a unique blend of invigorating fitness and serene surroundings that will leave you feeling refreshed and empowered.
Only hassle would be no overnight parking. Only 10hr+ parking is about a 0.5 mile away.
Room Features: Our main problem was that our private 4-bed room was shown online in pictures with a fireplace, seating area, and a more spacious bathroom, but it didn't come with any of that. It was just the two bunk beds and a tiny bathroom with inadequate storage. It looks like they used pictures of their private guesthouses instead for our space.
Room Amenities: We were also disappointed that the hair dryer, iron, and toiletries were not included in our room (even though we contacted the hotel beforehand and were told they would be) and instead had to be rented out from reception. This includes the toiletries (body wash, shampoo, conditioner) which were available at reception for a fee (which we ultimately got waived after complaining).
Room Design/Storage: This is a hostel, but we stayed in the private room, so we expected they would design these rooms in a way that maximized storage, but we only had the underbed storage bins; there was virtually no shelving or anything to facilitate storage better, so everything had to sit on the floor: toiletries, makeup, hair dryer, extra clothing, iron, etc. There was definitely adequate space in the room to accommodate shelving, so we wish they would've installed some.
Staff: It is nearly impossible to reach anyone by phone, but they are fairly responsive by email. We also had to ask for extra towels multiple times before they finally brought some. The front desk is usually understaffed with people waiting, so if you need anything, you usually have to wait. That being said, once we did get in contact with staff, they were super friendly, helpful, and accommodating.
Hotel Amenities: We loved the ability to get free beach towels from the front desk, the awesome pool/courtyard/patio area, the public bathrooms, and the general trendy design of the hotel. There are also computers available for use, lots of seating space, and the restaurant onsite.
Restaurant: Hoja Taqueria is onsite and has good hours, but is unfairly overpriced. Also their happy hour deals are a sham: an order of tacos normally comes with two for around $15 but the happy hour special is $7...for one taco. The majority of their drinks are made with mezcal but are premixed, so if you don't like mezcal, you are SOL. Breakfast was cold and overpriced as well, so we made every effort to not patronize the restaurant.
Hotel Vibe: We met some great people and loved hanging out in all of the various public spaces, especially the pool desk. Cannot beat the location in the heart of Miami Beach and having the beach/boardwalk right across the street. Also, the pricing for this location makes it superior to most other options.
Our front desk staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Alvin was such a delight, very approachable and shines bright in his role of guest interfacing; he truly seeks out to ensure an exceptional guest experience. Lee also helped us with changes to our itinerary and questions about our stay with great care and professionalism. Ronald was our bartender for the bulk of our stay and I can’t recommend him enough as a talented bartender and hospitable staff member.
All-in-all great stay. Th rooms were very clean and functional. My only recommendation would be for pillows that a little more cushioned as opposed to just fluffy so they don’t sink down. But really, can’t wait to be visiting here again and I have been recommending this spot to my friends.
My weeks here was by far the best moments I ever had. I genuinely want to cry with how respectful the staff was. I felt so safe and comfortable. It was just nice not having to share a hostel with men given the sexual assault that happened to me in the past at a different place. I was even able to make a lot of friends during my business trip! The Generator are really above and beyond. This says nothing of that heated pool I swam in almost every day lol.
Special thanks to The Manager, Tadeo, and Lee. Whenever I do business in Youth Florida again I’m bringing my whole team there. You guys are heroes.
The atmosphere in the hostel is also nice.
The 4 bed dorm was quite small and I did not like the layout. The sink is in the room so can be quite noisy and you can hear everything through the bathroom/entrance door.
As advertised there are sadly no curtains for the bunks either.
