Fantastic site! In the visitor centre you have a great exhibition which is like a little museum with lots of visuals and information. It’s essential to visit this to have a proper understanding of how and why this monument was built and what it represents.
They have a model village with replicas of the huts where stone age people lived and then you take a shuttle bus up to the monument itself. You get to walk around the monument and quite close to the stones. If you buy the inner access tickets (which are only available on certain dates, are a bit more expensive and sell out months in advance) you get to walk amongst the stones and have a guided tour by one of their knowledgeable in-house guides.
You can download an audio guide for free using the venue’s WiFi to your phone so it’s worth having your ear pods/headphones with you.
When you return to the visitor centre you can visit the gift shop which has everything you can think of with Stonehenge written on it.
In the cafe they have freshly made hot and cold food and drinks. It’s actually pretty decent for a museum cafeteria.
The staff are always friendly and professional.
You need about 2 hours to visit the whole site.
I’m a professional certified guide that goes there regularly and it’s one of my favourite historical sites in the whole of the England.
You must do a bit of research beforehand, visit the exhibition, buy the guidebook, and download the audio to fully comprehend its significance or… go an a guided tour.
It’s not easy to get there on public transport so I’d going from London, a cruise ship or Bath the best thing is to go on a tour.

I had never been there before. It is a lovely place for a day out with family for a walk, and if you don't walk long distances, there is a shuttle bus included in the ticket price. At the entrance, there is a restaurant with fresh food or refreshments and a gift shop. Accessible parking nearby.

It was fascinating seeing the stones, knowing how long they've been sitting there. I was a bit disappointed we couldn't get closer because they were roped off, but also understand preservation.
It was a bit of a drive out there, there were restrooms in their giant store and souvenir front.

I visited Stonehenge three weeks ago and it was incredible. A must visit. The views were great and the interactive experience was as well. The toilets were extremely comfortable and a pleasure to use. The massive rats were a highlight of the trip. I would recommend Stonehenge to those who have not had the chance to visit yet. I would avoid the gift shop at all times due to the bright lighting and choice of layout. Apart from that it was great!

Can't get closer to the stones, always busy, maybe a little smaller than what you may expect but must see! It has its magic.

We loved visiting Stonehenge, first time for my child and he loved it. Especially the village and example stone to pull. We were also lucky enough to take part in the Lego activity, which was very fun and loved seeing the finished thing on social media after.

The shuttle bus was a great idea for people who can't walk that far. We will probably book again for the special time going in and up to the rocks.

Very interesting, and the Expo centre was pretty informative. The shuttle runs continually, so waiting was a minimum. Great day out

Simply astonishing, really worth visiting!! You will feel like living in another era.
but keep in mind your travel route and plan your trip. The bus from Salisbury last 40 min to go and the same to return to the train station, and leaves every hour (o’clock) and if you’re going by train from London it could take 2 hours

Not as crowded as I thought would be. Maybe just a cooler day. Very beautiful out there. Took the half-day tour from London. Recommend doing that.

It is a captivating marvel of ancient history, surrounded by the serene beauty of the English countryside. A must-see for anyone intrigued by mysteries of the past. But make sure to visit this place on a sunny day. Otherwise the strong and cold wind can really get to you.

We have always wanted to visit. It was simply amazing. The tour bus took us to the parking lot where we took a shuttle to Stonehenge. We were able to get much closer than I imagined and because it is off season there weren't as many visitors.

There's a free public path right next to the tourist "ticketed" one. You can park about a mile down the road, right before the gate, and just walk up.

Fascinant
