ZASS RESTAURANT

Upon arrival to the San Pietro hotel, we were greeted by some of the friendliest and most accommodating people, who suggested that we make our way to the viewpoint for a few photo ops. The views from the hotel were some of the best views that we had on our trip to the Amalfi Coast. As the sun crested the top of the mountains, it made way for a kaleidoscope of colors that were unlike anything we had ever seen.
We then made our way to the downstairs cocktail bar for a pre-dinner aperitif. I ordered a Pickled Negroni, which was one of the finest crafted cocktails I have had. My wife, brother-in-law, and mother-in-law all enjoyed a delicious Aperol spritz. We were also treated to chips, crackers, and an assortment of nuts which paired finely with our drinks.
Shortly thereafter, we made our way to our reserved table. Our party collectively decided to indulge in the 7 course food tasting, which we naturally paired with the 7 course wine option, given that we were quite thirsty. What followed was nothing short of ethereal. The sautéed calamari was bathed in a delicate truffle cream. The Genovese soup, seasoned with maritime pine and mint, is an experience to behold. My favorite dish was the sea bass, graced with marvelous hints of fennel and citrus. The desserts were a world of their own, and one must experience this restaurant for themselves to truly understand. I shall only mention a few delicacies, as a full review of my gastronomical experience would exceed the length of a Tolkien novel.
Our sommelier was both inquisitive and lively, and introduced us to the vast world of Italian fine wine. From regions to wine making techniques, every wine that graced our palate came with a story, and our sommelier was the brilliant author.
Upon leaving the San Pietro hotel, we were offered a free ride back into town by the hotels private transfer service, which we delightfully accepted. Our driver was wonderful, telling us stories of his travels, and sharing many laughs with us. As we winded our way through the seaside cliffs back into Positano, I looked my left and gazed across the beautiful Mediterranean, attempting to comprehend what I had just experienced. As of now, these few words I have written will have to suffice. I hope that someday, I will have the honor of experiencing it again.
Other disappointment is that they have a €90 minimum spend per person which they say was agreed when you book online. I have checked and it doesn’t state this anywhere. So we ordered more food which was great, but spent more than we had anticipated and needed.
Terrace was also great for a drink!
Location tra le migliori al mondo. Complimenti!
