The experience of entering in the cold water and then going straight to hot water is insane. Everyone should try it.
We arrived for sunset hour and enjoyed a few hours here, soaking up the wondering atmosphere and gorgeous setting.
These baths are smaller than some others across Iceland but to be honest that's a good thing. They felt much more intimate and exclusive than the bigger southern baths. The main lagoon into which you enter is relatively small but is great for acclimatising before making the dash through the open air to the floating pools on the lake.
It is these 2 floating pools that are the best thing about Vök Baths. They provide gorgeous lake views and the frozen lake ice (in winter) comes right up to the sides, which you can dip your hands into. The lake is only available for swimming during summer months but in winter you can use a small de-iced section as a plunge pool - worth a try for the experience if you can brave 0° waters! FYI - the walkways get very slippery if you try to run so be wary.
The sauna is kind of hidden away right beside the entrance into the water but don't miss it, it's a nice little sauna and helps break up the time between pools.
Probably our favourite baths in Iceland.
