HUSAVIK CAPE HOTEL

I highly recommend staying at the Husavik Cape Hotel! I was a guest here in mid May 2022 during the Eurovision Finals and Grand Final plus local election night.
Travelling Internationally, during the time of Covid and rapidly changing rules, I had booked after corresponding with Orly online for a 6 month period prior to our stay. Upon arrival Henrik & Frank gave us a very warm welcome and even a complimentary upgrade to a lovely room with a fantastic view of the harbor and city. During the stay they were courteous, professional, responded quickly to requests for assistance and provided valuable local advice. Furthermore, they made us feel like close friends or members of the family. I will return to Iceland and Husavik, along with recommending a trip to all my family and friends predominately because of their fantastic hospitality.
It is an older hotel that has recently been renovated and remodeled. The rooms were exceptionally clean, light and well presented. The beds are comfortable, and the blankets kept us perfectly content with the changes in weather. May is Spring, so we had a wide range of conditions during our stay. The Blockout curtains will help you sleep during those Midnight Sun nights or if you had a big night. Breakfast was included with our booking, it was a nice way to start each morning prior to our adventures!
Breakfast was served in the adjoining Jaja Ding Dong which has delicious Pizza and Tiramisu served later in the day and through evening when it is open as a Pub. You will also find the Eurovision Museum here, covering both the fun movie currently on Netflix & the European Song Contest, with of course an Icelandic focus. Jaja Ding Dong was popular with both locals and travelers alike and is a perfect meeting point of place to unwind each night.
Staying at the Husavik Cape Hotel is very convenient and puts you in walking distance of pretty much everything in town plus the relaxing GeoSea Geothermal Sea Baths overlooking Skjalfandi Bay and the Arctic Circle. It is possible to see whales from the hotel, (seriously we did!) and while sitting in the hot bath. You can also book tours for Whale & Puffin sightings through several tour operators including Gentle Giants who have both rib speedboats and traditional Icelandic oak boats. Visit Husavik and TravelNorth.is are great sites to check for all kinds of information and fun activities to do during your vacation. One of my favourites was the Husavik Walking Tour - The Story of Fire Saga with Gunnar as our guide. Seriously, watch the movie before you come to stay and you will love it even more!
Husavik Cape Hotel is a fantastic jump point for other local adventures. We hired a 4x4 and did a variety of day trips including a Volcano Crater Hike, a Coastline mini-road trip sampling local bakeries and restaurants, Met and photographed Icelandic Horses and newborn lambs, Visited Museums including The Whale Museum, Historic Churches and more.
Proved to be a good place to stay, just keep an eye on the floor drain, ours overflowed onto the bathroom floor as we were emptying the basin
