Nice campsite, good and clean ablutions. However the service is extremely poor.
We booked and paid in full on line but when we arrived they had no record of us. I showed them our booking and payment confirmation but rather than apologising they treated us as though we had somehow done something terrible.
I was told to email the payment confirmation to them so they could check it and laughed at for booking so late (we had booked that morning).
The people checking in before us were told that all the tables in the restaurant were full but were offered a menu to look at and told that the staff would be happy to put out chairs by the watering hole to accommodate them. They were then offered a map with their campsite marked on and carefully directed where to go.before being wished an enjoyable stay.
When it came to us we were told that they were sure we would be far more comfortable cooking our own food at our campsite. When I said we had had a long day and hoped to eat with them they said they might be able to find some chairs but again told us it would be much better if we ate at our campsite.
We were then told our campsite number and the member of staff went to walk away. I asked whether we could have a map so we knew where to go as the previous people had. The member of staff looked annoyed, handed a map over and waved his hand dismissively saying our pitch was ‘over there’. He then said if we couldn’t find it we must come back as we were not allowed to drive around on our own. He then walked away.
I have no idea what crime we had committed to be treated like this, they are clearly able to be polite to guests as shown by the way they spoke to the people before us. I don’t believe we are less well presented than anyone else, nor impolite or difficult to deal with.
Be warned - you take your chances here, they either like you or they don’t!! Sadly this ruined our stay as we felt very unwelcome and as an expensive campsite (N$810 per night) we had hoped for a more enjoyable experience.

It does seem like our online booking system was offline and did not show on our side, but we are investigating the matter with the service provider. Onguma Tamboti Campsite is fortunate to have occupancies higher than any year recorded. We are therefor in the process of expanding our seating area and tables available in the Restaurant that will be arriving this week, as well as introduced more services for food delivery to the campsites due to the high demand, although this should not have been your only option. We have also welcomed some new staff to the team in the last month and do apologize for the uncommon occurrence that didn’t meet expectations.
We would not be able to grow and develop without feedback like yours. Although we’re disheartened by your experience, we’re grateful for your feedback so we can work to prevent it from happening again.

Great location at the entrance of Etosha. Camping facilities are great and private. Their staff is amazing and provide great service. Field guides are knowledgeable and staff aims to make your stay the best possible. After an incident not related to them during a sundowner, they were very helpful in sorting out a replacement game drive in the morning.
Would highly recommend for a relaxing stay where you're taken care of by an amazing staff.

Notre dernière nuit avant de quitter la région de Etosha. Un service irréprochable et d’une amabilité incomparable par rapport au camp site dans Etosha.
Suite à un soucis pendant un des safaris le management ainsi que le guide nous ont plus que satisfait dans la gestion et nous ont offert une compensation. Ici la satisfaction client est prioritaire. Nous étions en campsite tout était parfait!!

Solo tengo cosas buenas para decir de este camping. Llegamos tarde tras conducir desde Windhoek alrededor de las 21:30h cuando todos los campings estaban cerrados. Nos dejaron pasar y nos dieron la última parcela que les quedaba libre sin tener reserva. Las parcelas están muy bien equipadas con baño y ducha privadas, zona de barbacoa, fregadero y encimera. Además es de los pocos campings que tenía enchufe europeo en todo nuestro viaje por Namibia.
Está prácticamente al lado de la puerta de etosha este (namutoni gate)

Over the years, we have observed that activities that are longer than 3 to 4 hours are very straining for kids younger than 10 years. Occasionally, we do make exceptions for our Sundownder drive if families with young kids do combine a drive with other guests that also do have young kids, however, the age limit is still 6 years, this is due to safety reasons as we do have predators on the property and our game drive vehicles are open vehicles.
However, we do offer a Young Explorer walk for kids from ages 5 to 12 years. This educational and interactive activity is aimed at our younger bush explorers. Designed to excite and educate our younger visitors on the wild African bush. This gentle walk meanders through the natural bush at Onguma Bush Camp, so it’s safe, yet highly informative. Getting up close and personal with various animal skulls and horns, termite mounds, testing balancing skills, shooting with “ketties” (a local name for a slingshot), tracking spoor, shooting with a bow and arrows, old hunting secrets from our African forefathers and the local trees and plants found along the way.
This exciting expedition ends with a craft making session making a personal take home souvenir.
Duration approximately 1 to 2 hours.
I hope that the short description of the Young Explorers walk will convince you and your family to return to Onguma in the near future.

Juste à la sortie d Etosha ce trouve cet établissement, nous y étions en campsite
Chacun dispose de sanitaires individuels
Et vous pouvez manger au restaurant devant le point d eau

Beautiful and very clean campsite, 5 minutes far from the Etosha entrance. Each campsite had its own shower and bathroom. Great staff!

The campsite is ok. Location nice. Dinner, breakfast and service however disappointing. For camping ok, but I'd skip the restaurant - not convincing, not good, expensive by local standards.

Mooi camp. Geen grote Inkoop mogelijkheid. Avond eten en ontbijt mogelijk. Moet vooraf besteld worden.

Wunderschöner und ruhiger Campingplatz, gleich am Eingang vom Gate in den Etohsa-Nationalpark. Man hat einen großzügigen Campingbereich mit eigenem Duschhäuschen. Sehr ruhig!

Sehr schön gelegner Campingplatz, unweit des östlichen Etoscha Nationalpark Gates.
Sehr gut ausgestattete und gepflegte Campsites (die beste auf unserer Tour), in dem privaten Naturreservat ‘Onguma’ gelegen. Direkt am Restaurant und der Bar kann man ein Wasserloch beobachten (Nachts beleuchtet). Das Essen ist sehr gut und Preis-Leistung auch!
Auch der Sundowner Drive war sehr empfehlenswert und das Personal sehr freundlich.
Der Pool wird auch sehr gepflegt.

Wij waren er in mei. Dit is geweldig. Hier overnachten. Dit is 100x beter dan Ethosa daar is is alles kapot en buitenlanders uitbuiten. Het restaurant is ook een aanrader.

This was our favorite campsite in Namibia in terms of infrastructure (sheltered kitchen and outdoor light were a major plus), cleanliness and location (very close to the Etosha gate). We highly recommend the sundowner drive. Ours was with Liberty, who did an amazing job tracking lions.
The only negative point for us was the attitude of the waiter at the bar, who was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed to serve us which is uncharacteristic of Namibia but also clashes with the rest of our experience in this high end campsite. Other staff including at reception was always nice and attentive.

Einfach nur Wow :) Sehr empfehlenswerter Campingplatz ganz nah am Etosha. Saubere und große Stellplätze, mit eigenen Sanitäranlagen. Die Lodge ist eine richtige Ruheoase :) Es gibt einen Pool mit Liegen und ein Restaurant mit Ausblick auf das Wasserloch. An einem Abend haben wir sogar einen Leoparden beobachten können, was für ein Erlebnis! Schon bei der Hinfahrt haben wir auch mehrere Giraffen an Bäumen naschen sehen, aus nächster Nähe. Die Mitarbeiter sind super freundlich und das Essen war aufgezeichnet. Wir haben den Spaziergang durch den Busch gemacht, war echt interessant. Schade aber, dass er nur 1,5 Stunden dauert - wir hätten auch gerne 3 Stunden daraus machen können!

You must must must camp here. The facilities are phenomenal! I’d recommend staying here over somewhere in Etosha NP probably. Took a sundowner safari and didn’t see much (surprisingly), but it was still enjoyable (Thanks, Nico).

Es gibt einen Pool mit schattigen Liegen zum Ausruhen.
Die Rezeptionistin war super lieb!
Das Essen im Restaurant war auch gut, der Service ist noch ausbaufähig. Da wir da aber keine großen Ansprüche haben, 5 Sterne!!! Im Restaurant gibt es Blick auf ein Wasserloch, echt schön.
