We spoke with the food wait staff who were very friendly and extremely helpful. They had mentioned that during their entire time working for the past 6 months, they had only seen the Northern Lights 2 times total, one time in December and another time in March, it’s currently April 5th. If you are expecting to see the lights from these expensive rooms, the lighting/windows and the neighboring units do cause lots of glare and light pollution making it difficult to see. You will be forced to go outside or spend another $100USD for a tour, if the lights even decide to show in Rovaniemi.
The front desk staff is not very friendly or welcoming, however, you will feel safe as it seems as though their main objective is to watch your every movement on their premises. Just be prepared as their jacuzzis are outside facing and visible to everyone with very little privacy. I would not recommend Glass Resorts to friends or family. Not sure whether every room has a sauna, but ours did and that was a nice touch.
Man muss einfach alles empfehlen
I did not encounter this type of interaction with the other staff. Others were very welcoming and attentive. For a resort of this caliber, you would except service to be flawless throughout.
❤️Highly recommend
We needed to email the resort a couple of times before our arrival with a couple of queries, and they were really quick and helpful with their responses.
Location wise, the resort is very close to the airport (about 10 minutes max) Some of our group used the free hotel transport, and others had hired a car- of which parking was available and plentiful without ruining the look of the resort.
The apartment has the real wow factor when walking in. There is a tablet playing an info video on the TV when you arrive, detailing key points for things like the sauna and hot tub.
I would recommend taking an eye mask to sleep in, as there are no blinds to the upper floor glass (happily so, as the view/experience is beautiful) but this does mean you won't be able to block light out when sleeping.
To get to the hot tub, you go out the front of your apartment and walk to the back. Robes and thin slippers are provided. It's definitely an experience walking through the snow, especially when heading back wet!
The restaurant was a short walk for us, and the staff were always welcoming and friendly. The food was lovely, with a wide variety at breakfast and dinner. The staff were accommodating for requests, Including GF dietary queries.
We celebrated a birthday and had arranged a cake to be bought out and the staff sang happy birthday and made this a really special evening by going the extra mile for us.
The Glass Resort is on the Santa Claus village site but set at the back away from the hustle and bustle. Yet this is only a minute walk to all the shops/Santa/the live Web cam for the artic circle, Snowman world, reindeer rides etc
With everything on site, there really isn't a need for a hire car as you don't need to leave the site!
Consigliato.
The views into the sky and forest from the huge "igloo" windows highlighted the beauty of winter in the arctic circle, and nothing compares to sipping Long Drinks in your private hot tub late into the night as the Aurora Borealis swirls above. The buffet breakfast was a great start before venturing to check out Santa's Village, etc, and the prix fixe multi-course dinner was delicious. Lots of options for our vegan friends as well!
Truly can't speak highly enough about Glass Resort. Travel here with your friends, with your partner, with a stranger. You won't be disappointed.
