The food was amazing as always but the service was very slow
We agreed on $175 per person for more than 8 people
At the beginning we had some drinks at the bar and 2 of our friends had a separate bill
They gave us the bill and charged us $500 more than what we actually ate because we didn’t meet the set price, completely ignoring the money we spent on the bar and the friends that had a separate bill.
When we spoke to the manager he was so rude! Gave us the worst attitude and made us wait more than 20 minutes for nothing
He didn’t help us at all and when my friend was looking at a wine decanter the manager told him not to take it as if we were thieves
Olivetta was my favorite restaurant for a few years but after the way we got treated I’ll never go back and never recommend it to anyone.
???? Food: Amazing. This was one of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots that I visited during my trip to LA. Every dish was delicious. The avocado pizza was super filling, creamy and crispy. Definitely recommend.
The food is exquisite, the service is outstanding and the ambiance is delightful!!! I could eat here every single day!
We had an issue with our check and after we asked to fix the problem we waited about 20 minutes to receive the new check which was wrong too.
All of that was nothing compared to the rude and outrageous behavior of the manager there that had the most bizarre attitude for no reason, was super impatient and couldn’t handle the issue.
Unfortunately he is making a bad reputation to the restaurant and didn’t care.
Whether you want to chat with the staff, who feel more like family, or stay to yourself at a private table, the choice is yours. The waiters aren't overbearing and give you space to enjoy your time. If you're looking for a fussy spot, Mauro is not for you.
I must add, if you frequent this spot, you'll know that Evelyne, Mira, and the rest of the staff are amazing and support all customers equally, always. The DJ is an angel and so much fun!
*Friday nights low-key dinner
*Sunday morning/afternoon lively brunch
We ordered the Bruschetta appetizer a few glasses of wine and waited on lunch. The service was prompt and the food was cooked and served quickly. Again, the servers and support staff were superb. The food was awesome.
I was in the mood for carbonara but did not find it on the menu so I ordered the Penne Porcini and asked for bacon to be added. That turned out fantastic! The other dishes were a hit as well. The lamb shank was fall off the bone and beautifully seasoned. The Penne Primavera was cooked in point and the vegetables and tomato were flavorful. The Fred’s pasta looks like a favorite and was very pleasing.
We shared a carrot cake and tiramisu for dessert, had an espresso, decaf Cappuccino and a latte- all on point! Fabulous meal and hope to return soon! Fantastic experience
Response to owner:
thank you for taking the time to respond and I'm sure the prep is high quality but if the coffee sits for 15min after it gets cold and all that work is for nothing.... in this case the order was two americanos (espresso and water - no crafting of drink required)
We went on a Friday night with our two children - ages 10 & 13 - and expected that we would be met annoyance - it was anything but! The hostess was so sweet, kind and personable, and then we had a visit from Emma (who I presume was the manager) and she engaged us in real, meaningful conversation, not just the requisite check-in. Following her visit, Craig, the owner, came by to see how our experience was.
But the true stand-out of the evening was our waiter, Carson. I simply can’t find the words to compliment him to the level he deserves. He was so engaging, kind and funny that we forgot we had only just met him that night! He took the time to talk to us about where we were from, he engaged my boys into a deep sports discussion and made them feel important while keeping them laughing. When we all left that night we couldn’t stop talking about how incredible our entire experience was! So much so, that we canceled our reservation at a very highly sought after restaurant on Monday night so we could go back there.
We had another great experience on Monday. Our waitress, Kristi, was so sweet and kind! On the way out we ran into Carson and he treated us like old friends. My boys were so excited that we got to see him again (as were we) and, despite us not being his customers that night, he spent time chatting with us and never once made us feel like we were taking too much of his time. This man is truly amazing and if you ever have the chance to have him as your server, consider yourself lucky!
Thank you so much, Carson, for making our entire trip! We will be back to Craig’s every time we visit LA!
From the moment we walked in, we couldn't help but feel that we were being treated poorly, possibly due to discrimination. We were seated in a corner that felt isolated and out of the way, almost as if we were placed there to be constantly observed by the staff. This seating arrangement immediately created an unwelcome atmosphere.
The uncomfortable experience only escalated as we noticed the stares and glances from both the employees and other guests. This constant scrutiny made us feel incredibly uneasy and unwelcome. It became so distressing that we couldn't even bring ourselves to finish our meal before deciding to leave.
The overall feeling of being unwelcomed and the blatant stares from the employees and other guests made this a truly unpleasant experience. It is disheartening to encounter such discriminatory treatment in a supposedly reputable establishment. We left Craig’s with a profound sense of disappointment and frustration, tarnishing what was meant to be a special occasion for us.
In light of our experience, we cannot recommend Craig’s to people of color who are seeking an enjoyable dining experience. Discrimination has no place in any establishment, and it is essential for restaurants to ensure that all their guests are treated with respect and dignity. We hope that you all take this feedback seriously and works towards creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all patrons.
Overall, our visit was a regrettable experience marred by poor service and possible discrimination. We sincerely hope that the management takes appropriate measures to address these issues, ensuring that no future guests have to endure the same disappointment and discomfort that we did.
