Coming from Oklahoma, I stayed here with a friend to see the sights & atmosphere of the city. The room was delightfully decorated & quiet. Everything was clean. Bathroom was roomy & water was hot. Probably the best of all was the service. My friend & I both left something behind & they graciously accommodated us when we realized it. Very polite on the phone when we realized our mistake & we were able to work out a way to recover them. Loved this place!

Never again!

We have stayed at Apple Farm several times over the past several years but after this last visit we will never go there again. They have been running big discounts mid-week and we decided to head up there. In the past the beds have been really comfortable but not this time. If you like a really hard mattress this is the place for you, if you don’t, check in elsewhere. They have either changed out all the mattresses in the main building (where the best rooms are) or they have removed the pillow tops that made them more comfortable when we were there in the past. We stayed in two different rooms and the mattress was the same hard surface in both. The last night we upgraded to what they call the Signature room, one of two rooms in the main building at the end of the building. Ours overlooked the pool and the water wheel but the noise from the pool wasn’t that bad because there weren’t many people there. We had high hopes when we saw the room. It was shaped like an octagon with eight walls and a tall peaked ceiling that ended in a cupola. There was a four poster bed (still with the rock hard mattress) and a cozy fireplace. We thought the bathroom was amazing with two sinks and a huge shower with three shower heads. Unfortunately one of the sinks didn’t drain properly and of the three shower heads, only one worked. The other two only gave out lukewarm water. Because we were there in the spring with a water source right there dozens of frogs sang late into the night and we could hear them. That noise really didn’t bother me but if you want a quiet space to go to sleep don’t stay in the rooms near the water wheel in the spring. When we checked out the unfriendly young woman was on the phone and we had to wait. Then when I told her about the bathroom problems there was no apology of any kind. She looked pained that I had mentioned them to her. When we stayed there before there was a cute small two story gift shop on the front of the property and I bought several things there over the years. A few years ago it closed and then it became a wine shop but now as you turn into the property those large windows are covered with what looks like paper, not a great welcoming sight for your first view of the place. The prices on the weekend appear to be three times higher than they are mid-week so you should try to stay there mid-week if you are going. We didn’t eat in the restaurant. My husband walked up there mid-afternoon and he said there was no one in there so at least there probably wouldn’t be a wait for eating. We used to enjoy staying there but even with the discounted prices we will look elsewhere. Lots of other motels and hotels in San Luis and nearby in Morro Bay or Pismo.

This place exceeded our expectations in every way. The staff was professional and friendly, the rooms are clean and well-appointed, and make sure you go to the onsite restaurant for a great breakfast. Definitely wasn't expecting such a high quality experience at a small independent inn. We will be back!

Room was small. Furniture needed to be updated. The overall hotel was very nice.

Highly recommend this place. Love the old time feel and the staff was very warming and welcoming. Right next to a creek so you can hear the frogs at night.

Location is a super easy freeway access. You can walk to many nice restaurants in downtown SLO or surroundings.

Staff is very helpful. Service is amazing. I need to make sure I mention there are comp coffee and apple cider. Love it! Comp wine from 5-8 when I was there.

Rooms are good. Stayed there twice. One time I got the end room with a fireplace and a lovely view. The bed is super comfy. This is a hotel with a lot of characters. Great for a honeymoon.

Second time stayed there booked via Expedia. Got a smaller room at the front. Not bad either but way smaller. Still got character and fire place. Like!

Value - I would say is good value. Way better than a few neighboring hotels for sure.

Oh. Make sure you try their breakfast. Open to public! Check out the pictures

Charming inn. Convenient for visiting cal poly students. Close drive to downtown. spacious rooms with extra seating area and fireplace. Each room has a different decor style- one of our rooms was more light and contemporary, the second had an old Americana vibe with red walls. Bathroom was a little older with a prefabricated shower/tub, but was clean. Lots of “extras” included- free wine tasting, hot apple cider in lobby, choc chip cookies. restaurant on property for a classic Americana style breakfast.

It’s an adorable property! I wish the hours of the restaurant were posted on Google. They are as follows:

7a-11a Wed-Friday
7a-12p Sat and Sun
[and starting April 2024 they are hoping to also be open (seasonally) Monday and Tuesday 7-11]

The post pandemic menu is brunch only.
Also, for old-timers, the mill house has been converted from a cute little walk-thru to hotel rooms now.

Still a great hotel and destination!

Pics make it look great, and reviews for the rooms say they are great. But when you run an establishment that is about hospitality, it starts from the very beginning of your interaction. The phone number goes to a message telling you to email them, and you can not leave a voice message. Which they don't respond to. The automated contact form on their website also goes unanswered. The site also has a number you're supposed to be able to text. That too goes unanswered. I really wanted to stay here! It looked amazing! But I had a specific question about the room I wanted, and after 5 hours of trying to get ahold of someone to answer it, I went to another hotel. Mostly because after 5 hours, the room i wanted was not available anymore. Maybe they are great idk but in my opinion, any place that goes out of their way to make themselves unreachable doesn't really want your business. Maybe they do, and they just are too busy to answer phones or return a text or an email. If they are than that means it's a poorly managed business that either doesn't care enough to hire enough staff, is too cheap to hire enough staff or doesn't have enough business to hire more staff. Sense the rooms where being booked I can't help but say they are too cheap or poorly managed. Really disappointed me and my wife really wanted to stay here.

Had this spontaneous family vacay to San Luis Obispo during the holidays. Stumbled upon Apple farm and man, fell head over heels for the charming country vibes, warm hospitality, and those homemade cookies they hand you at check-in? Pure bliss! Loved it so much, we decided to stretch our stay. Big shoutout to Adam for going above and beyond to make our stay comfy – sorted our extension and even made sure our stuff moved to the new room. Count on us for more holiday vibes here! ????

I have stayed here several times and it has been wonderful. I love how pretty it is and the restaurant is fantastic. Only thing is that this visit I found several ants in the bathroom.

Absolutely gorgeous and comfortable!!! The Hot tub on our private back patio was the best. Watching the sky while soaking in nice hot water with jets. The staff was super helpful and friendly.
