1. A ten dollar smoothie that was mostly ice and had very little flavor.
2. A twenty dollar sandwich that had a very thin layer of turkey and a sweet, seedless wheat bread that seems as if it was purchased at the Dollar Tree.
Not so good, for a 72 dollar bill( with the new mandatory style pre-tipping system that has been adopted everywhere) for three people. For a sandwich I could make better at home AND a ground ice drink.
I’ll also add one more:
3. Workers who have no idea about the Jans of 40 years ago and seem to know know nothing about its history in HB.
Thanks for the reply Jan's. I had just gotten my lunch and was in a meeting, hence the frustration.
I should add - the food is great - 5 stars as I noted... and that just makes the small not-excellent things that much more obvious.
I told them that the turkey was so small I couldn't taste it and they said oh well this is what we serve. Jan as a child going to get a sandwich after surfing and chatting to you I am surprised you let the quality and portion ruined your good name that you worked so hard for.
I am sorry to say that because there are so many options I will have second thoughts about where I get my vegetarian sandwiches from. So disappointed and I was your biggest fan.
Reply: I am in shock with your response to my post. I can assure you that the portion size when Jan was managing the place was a 1/2 inch or more covering the bread and at least a half avocado.. I know what I ate throughout the years and had several conversations with her about how great her sandwiches were.
I am disappointed by the reply because it is night and day; furthermore from 1979 - through the years It was excellent and I could actually taste the soy turkey. I will go back to Costa Mesa, Laguna and Huntington beach to compare. I will take pictures and give a follow up review. I want the customer to get what they pay for and because you turned this into a chain, COG's seems more important to turn a bigger profit and yesterday I didn't see value for money.
Thank you.
