I traveled with my husband while he was on a work trip, so I was often solo. The hotel is within walking distance of the harbor. I had plenty to do when the sun was shining. Our final day it rained. Regardless of the rain, the Monsaraz San Diego has a relaxed vibe with an inviting lobby. I spent the afternoon people watching from their amazing swing chair.

Good location if want to walk right across to harbor or need to get to bus. Has quite a few restaurants close by and good coffee shop across the street.
Not close by downtown, but easy to get to from airport & has parking available. Able to hold bags if arrive early. Folks at front desk helped & were friendly.
Room clean, nicely setup - quite large room and bathroom.

Poor customer service by supervisor, Sandra. Very confrontational, passive aggressive, and called me a liar even though I was promised several follow up calls by her colleagues throughout the day.
I would advise to not stay at this property at all costs if this is how they treat their patrons.

Horrible management of
Thursday event. Only one person bartending (doing the best he could) and waited way too long. Finally someone came to help.
Bar had 6 of 8 tap that were empty.
Very basic menu although all food was delicious. French fries tasty.
Market prices crazy. $4 fora small twix bar.
Did not respond to messages sent from Hilton app.

New and rooms are great. Unfortunately it takes them forever to serve breakfast even when only a couple of tables are occupied. Stayed there a few times and it's the same issue every time so will not come back.

Management - Javier Abar and Rick Garcia are totally disrespectful, rude, condescending and liars. Lied to my face and lied to Hilton about my reservation. My reservation was for one King Bed and confirmed. When we walked into our room it was a double bed. When I confronted the hotel manager, he told me that "I" made the changes. I told him I just made the reservations a few hours before my stay. Why would I change my booking? This is when Javier became rude and condescending. Telling me that basically I'm the idiot and I messed up. Told me that I went online and changed my reservation. Well, sir I'm a retired US Army Combat Medic and a Diamond member and I don't need this right now. It's late, I'm tired and just want you to fix this. He went on to literally laugh in my face and say who cares about what you are. Also, he said go ahead and call Hilton Honors, I don't care they will not do anything about it. Well, I did call Hilton Honors and they told me that they were able to see that the manager actually did change my reservation himself.
This new hotel locks their doors so you can’t come in without them opening the doors themselves. Why is there no keypad for the guest to let themselves in? Next door about 30 feet away is a migrant detention housing center at the Ramada Inn with 30-40 men outside doing drugs and getting drunk at all hours of the night. At 3:30 am, My wife and I were woken up to several men severely assaulting another migrant who was yelling for his life. They continued to beat this man’s face in for over a half hour and beating and stomping him almost to death. After a 30 minute beat down, the fire department finally showed up with the cops following 15 minutes later. Cops left with no one in hand cuffs, I felt sick and sad for this guy. I never experience anything like this in Point Loma. There’s your usual homeless around but not gangs of men committing crimes unpunished. I confronted the hotel manager about this incident, he told me who care it's not his problem. I think the safety of his hotel guest are his problem. Also, the air conditioner didn't work which is why we woke up at 3:30 am to my first ever Migrant Beat Down, since we had to open the window and smell cigarettes and weed all night. I confronted a few of the male migrants later that morning and they confirmed that it's a migrant housing hotel. These men are lingering outside the hotel on the sidewalk at all hours of the day and night doing drugs and getting drunk. We didn't sleep for 2 days. Just incase your asking why I didn't change hotel? Since I was attending a fishing convention I had my large truck and all of the Hiltons in that area have small limited parking and most were booked due to Presidents Day.

The restaurant and outdoor space has fabulous decor, and a great vibe. Hoping to see the restaurant pick up. The previously leased restaurant has left (The Westerly Pub) and now the hotel is working on a new menu themselves and doesn’t quite have everything rolling yet, however, I had a fabulous old-fashioned prepared by Vanessa, who evidently has just started bartending and is super friendly and was great to talk to. Service was great and my veal burger simple, but super tasty. I hope they can get all this together soon with a completed menu and live music in the venue again. If so, it’s a great local hang out for the Point Loma neighborhood!

As a diamond member, I wouldn’t stay here again. It’s a Hilton affiliate property therefore, you don’t get all the perks of being a diamond member.
I wanted to book for 4 nights but the last night the price was higher than the government per diem rate. So I called to ask for the per diem rate and the front desk stated I couldn’t get it. So I booked for 3 nights..then checked the app when I got here for the price of the 4th night and surprise it was the per diem rate. So I had 2 separate reservations ????
You can only use your $15 daily credit in the restaurant, you can’t get snacks or drinks from the sundry shop. The restaurant is open til 11 in the morning and from 5pm-9pm. Yep…9pm…after that if you miss it you lose out on your $15 credit. The menu has like 10 things to choose from. And usually if I don’t get to $15 I’ll just leave the tip to equal the price but here they separate it and charge you for the tip.
You’re forced to valet for $37 and the valet guys look at you waiting for you to tip them…I paid one by Venmo enough to share with his buddies. I guess he chose not to.
Latest check out time they could give me was 12:30…LOL hilarious!
It’s not awful by any means…it’s just not what you’re used to as a Hilton honors member and there are way too many other hotels in the area that will let you use all your perks.
If you’re not Hilton honors…disregard…you’ll probably love it.

Absolutely wonderful hotel - 5 stars.
Came into town for a quick getaway and chose this relatively new hotel (opened in 2021) for one portion of my time in San Diego. I was looking for something that was well connected to driving to Point Loma, as well as La Jolla and other destinations. It’s extremely convenient to Point Loma and the National Park, and we had an easy time getting around to the other locations.
Room was upscale, smartly designed, and incredibly modern. I’ve stayed at other Hilton “collection” properties and some have been modern to a fault (missing key quality of life features or layouts). This hotel just made sense and I was very comfortable in the room.
Restaurant was closed when we were here so can’t comment on that, though I wouldn’t have stopped there anyways—there’s too much good food to find around in SD.
Would return.

Wanted to avoid those business hotels but still something decent and affordable.
Went there with my bestie and we enjoyed my stay there. The room was kind of small, but we had access to the terrace and backyard, so it offset everything.
On the other note, if you're visiting the town, try some Korean Mexican foods. They are beyond words!!

Stayed at this hotel for a work trip. It was a nice hotel & was located near the work location, so was very convenient. The hotel staff was nice & helpful. The restaurant/bar had a very limited, expensive menu, but the staff were also very nice & helpful. My work schedule changed during the trip, which resulted in checking out one day early. The hotel, not Hilton, policy resulted in getting charge for the extra day anyway. Quite disappointed that this hotel is willing to take the money for an extra day. I will never stay there again & will recommend to others not to stay there either.

This would be a 4/5 star reviewed property if it just had even remotely competent service staff. The staff acted like they didn’t care at all. I was given incorrect information about the diamond credit and was told I had no balance on my account when I checked out, even though there was when I received my email receipt. The valet had my car out while I was away from the hotel and left the doors unlocked (I have a Tesla so it notifies me). When I called to enquire I was told they were just getting it out in case I needed it. Obviously that was a crock and the car was back in the garage 5 minutes later.
The bar and restaurant closed at 9, which is ridiculously early and an hour earlier than stated online. The person working the bar (and presumably also doing the cooking) was about the only pleasant staff member at the property
The heat took about 20 minutes for it to start working, to which the front desk person said that’s just the way it is. The bathroom also had a nice blind that should lower and raise to let light in the bathroom. I couldn’t figure out how to work it - it looked motorized. The desk person said well it doesn’t work if it doesn’t have a chain. Some do, some don’t. What is the point of this?
Seriously I have seen better staff at a motel 6. Not a single interaction with the front desk staff was pleasant or professional. Who is running this place?
That being said the, other than the above things, hotel rooms and property is quite nice. If they matched the quality of the property with a decent staff that acted like they mildly cared this would be a top choice for me in San Diego. Until then I will skip staying here again.

Parking sucked, but I worked it out. The breakfast with the wagu & eggs was INCREDIBLE!!
Location: As a native San Dieagan, I knew I wanted our elopment to be in San Diego. Little did I know, there was a gem in the Monsaraz and its premier location in the heart of Point Loma. Across the street from the harbor, there were prime choices to dine at or just take a stroll during the day. We specially dined at Ketch Taps and Grill for our lunch reception following the ceremony. The hotel is also located to nearby hotspots like Downtown San Diego, Mission Bay and the San Diego Airport. This is a great hotel to feel like you're getting away and experiencing some of the best San Diego has to offer.
Staff: The staff was AMAZING! Huge thanks to the manager, Adrian Villaruel, for making our stay over the top. He was attentive, engaged in our party and responsive to any inquiries we had or needs for the ceremony. On the afternoon of the wedding, he had a bottle of sparkling wine sent to the room with a handwritten note congratulating our new marriage. These are the small details that keep us loyal to the Hilton Brand and we're happy that people like Adrian are part of the team. Additionally, we ate at the on-site restaurant several times during our stay. Not only was the food delicious but both gentlemen that working during the breakfast hours and the bartender at night, made us feel welcomed and extremely attentive to all of the patrons in the restaurant. These guys were true rockstars and instrumental to the team as ambassadors to the brand.
Room & Hotel Experience: We LOVED this hotel. Once we saw it in the app, we knew we had to book it for our stay. Our families, who are not typical Hilton members, were thoroughly impressed because of the modern and clean rooms but also the aforementioned notes. Several times they complimented the hotel and attentiveness of the staff and enjoyed a break away from their busy lives through the serene and peaceful elements of this beautiful hotel.
The one con is parking. There is some valet parking available but mostly street parking which can be tricky at times. Be patient with this and consider options such as the harbor parking lot across the street.
If you're considering this hotel, DO IT! The hotel itself is nice but it is really the team that makes it top notch. The Monsaraz is the place you want to be!
