They managed to fit us in and the food was fantastic. They also gave us some extra for messing us around on seating. Would recommend.

We had strong recommadation to try this place so we were happy to get there. But then we were placed on a tiny table, not suitable for 2 people at all (no space for legs) so we asked to change of table. They agreed but didn't seem pleased about the request.
The food was then good, and in good quantity but quite expensive, I guess because of the location (and be careful of the discretionary tips of 12,5% which is mandatory).
Then at the middle of our time there, they decided to leave the door open and did not want to close it so I had to finish my meal with my coat, the waiter didn't care about my request and seemed contemptuous.
During all of our time in Scotland we didn't experience this kind of behavior, which is a shame because the place could be great.
This place is not quite cheap, so you expect a mimum of service, space and time to enjoy your brunch but this won't be the place for it.

It used to be one of my go-to brunch spots in Edinburgh when I lived here. Unfortunately, it seems like things have changed a bit. The air feels a bit stuffy, which is probably why they keep the door open, but then you end up feeling chilly. The food and drinks are still delicious, although I do miss when they were served on brioche instead of simple toast. Also, I noticed the toilets have a moldy smell, and the joints could really use a good cleaning

This seems like an establishment in Edinburgh. We wanted to book a table for brunch during our recent trip to Edinburgh but it was fully booked for the next several days so we went for a late lunch at 1:30PM. Despite being starving by the time we got our food, I wasn’t a big fan of the toastie I got off the main menu. The bread was thick and hard to chew and the filling (including haggis) didn’t really have much flavour. A bit pricy for what it was too.

My vegetarian friend and I (vegan) went specifically for a full Scottish breakfast and were not disappointed! They do both a vegan and a vegetarian version and everything was so good! It included a plant based black pudding and haggis so we didn’t feel like we were missing out at all. Nice thick pieces of toast and a lovely potato scone and topped off with perfectly cooked mushrooms and tomatoes.
The Scottish breakfast blend of tea was also fantastic and they had oat milk to go with it.
We were waited on by a couple of different employees and they were all very lovely and friendly.

I’m not gonna lie this was the best breakfast I had in a long time. Absolutely on point. Every bite was just delicious. Really great place. Great vegetarian haggis.
There is one shop for reservations and one for step-ins. I would recommend getting there earlier than 10am without a reservation
Just one slightly bad thing: please please change the oat milk. The one they use is really bad.

Wer ein echtes schottisches Frühstück oder Essen geniessen möchte ist hier genau richtig. Es ist zwar etwas eng dafür aber umso familiärer. Kiltet Eggs genossen waren echt der Hammer und dazu einen chai latte. Unedingte Empfehlung. Evtl Reservation, empfehlenswert.

Food was good however they have an extra “discretionary” service fee of 12.5% that isn’t discretionary/optional at all.

Queued to get in and the got served our eggs and toast in a steel tin (prison tin) and basically got asked to get our coffees to go so we could free up the table. Overpriced and overrated.

Came in for soup and a sandwich and would 100% recommend this restaurant. The service was amazing, Karina took amazing care of our table, the food was delicious and super fresh, and even the playlist was awesome. Would definitely come back to visit if I’m in Edinburgh again.

Ordered the full scottish breakfast and everything in it was great. It was crowded and we had to queue for a wee bit before we got in but it was worth the queue.

We had a fantastic breakfast at the Edinburgh Larder. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and they made a huge fuss of my young son. Drinks and food were delicious too.

We didn't book so had to queue for about 15 minutes but you could tell that staff were doing their best to seat you as fast as possible. However once you were inside and eating, you never felt rushed or pushed to leave.

I heard good thing about the Larder. Unfortunately, I didn't know that this was an extension to the main restaurant. Which shouldn't make a difference, but the place felt crammed.

The food was great, every last piece of it, but the plating felt like a cheap gimmick. They used lunchboxes, which maybe someone thought it is a good idea, but unfortunately not great to eat out of, especially food that you need to cut up. I have seen some people use the lid as a plate, and place their food there instead of the metal lunchbox. Mine was taken away before I could do so.

All in all, food great for breakfast. There was a small queue in front (waiting for either of the restaurants - main or Little Larder - to clear for spaces), but I would recommend the main one more. At least the toilets are located in the main one, not in the small one. So going over to the other side to use these facilities felt like intrusion.

It was a pretty good ambiance plus the food was amazing. Just make sure the tables are reserved well in advance. They dont accept walk ins.

The food exceeded our expectation for a typical Scottish breakfast but the service was below standard. They should improve on how to treat their customers better as we had to wait outside for 30 min and we were a group of 5 and there were at least 10 people in groups of 2 that were behind us the que that got to go before and I don’t understand why the waitress didn’t lead us go in as we were fine being split up. In my opinion I suggest the potato scones and the poached egg(the bacon is a bit hard)

My friend recommended this cafe to me and i am so glad i decided to try it. I ordered waffles which arrived fresh and warm, were so well balanced, & not overtly sweet at all. Total was about 20£.
