BEL AIR TREMBLANT

Overall, it's a nice place to stay if you want a little romantic getaway with some nice amenities in your chalet. But for the price, I expected better attention to detail and upkeep of the chalets. The regular price starting at $300 a night is too expensive. If you can book weekdays and wait til the last minute to book, the price drops and it's more worth it.
The service gets 4 stars from me because of the issues with the key to the chalet detailed below. The staff were all great :-)
The positives:
- access to a private sauna and hot tub
- bath tub inside the chalet
- super comfortable bed
- fireplace
- nice view - we could see the sunset over the mountain
- nice service at the bistro, good coffee and good food
- online check-out so you can leave without stopping at reception
The negatives:
- Getting into the chalet was unnecessarily difficult. The first time we stayed, we got a code for the door and everything went fine. This time, we were given a code for a lockbox by the door, which contained the key (which was tied to the lockbox, so we couldn't take it with us). The lockbox is VERY difficult to open, especially because there's no roof over the front door. It was pouring rain so it was slippery and took ages to open. The next day, we went for breakfast at the bistro and when we came back, we couldn't open the lockbox to unlock the door. I had to call reception and they sent us a guy who had to use a knife to open the lockbox (it was presumably frozen shut from the rain and subsequent rapid drop in temperature). Once he had opened the lockbox, he went ahead and entered a code on the door's keypad to open it for us. Why couldn't reception just give us that code over the phone instead of sending the guy, if the keypad on the door worked the whole time? Or better yet, just keep the keys at reception and give them to guests at check-in? Is the resort so afraid guests will lose keys that they have to tie them to a lockbox? Then you have to worry about whether you'll be able to get back into your chalet after reception closes at 7 pm. (There is an emergency number you can call if you get locked out after hours, but if they just gave you a key you could take with you, this wouldn't be an issue...)
- The online check-in process allows you to pay the deposit before getting to the resort but you still have to check in at reception to get your lockbox code. It would make more sense to send the door code by email after online check-in OR give guests the physical key at reception.
- The chalet does not seem to be very well insulated. The fireplace works well to warm it up but we obviously did not sleep with it on, so we were freezing in the mornings. It's like the regular heating can't keep up without the fire being on. See the two photos of the condensation that collected both mornings on the vent over the stove - there is a draft there. The floors are supposed to be heated but they were freezing cold in the morning (along with the rest of the chalet).
- The website for the bistro shows that brunch is from 12-2 every day, but when we tried to get brunch on a Thursday we were told the brunch menu is only available on weekends. This was disappointing because I had checked the hours and the breakfast menu vs. the brunch menu and the brunch menu has twice as many options.
