Because you can't check in until 3pm, it feels like the timing of the boats to the island has been orchestrated to make you spend more money - you either arrive after your check in, pay for an early check in, or get there at 1pm and hang around/spend money in the bar and restaurant.
We stayed in a deluxe beach bungalow for two nights. The ceiling fan in our room was broken and could not be fixed - it would not turn off and was incredibly noisy. The only solution was to turn it off at the mains, meaning we could only use the aircon, which was also very noisy. There wasn't another room of the same level available and we weren't offered anything else to make up for the inconvenience, which was a little disappointing.
The food situation is pretty dire. The breakfast buffet isn't too bad (and thank goodness it's included with the room...), but a la carte options are extremely limited and the dinner buffet is really, really expensive for what it is - even by New Caledonia standards. I've read that other people take advantage of the free boat to and from Port Moselle, which I think we would have also done had we been there for longer.
The fitness room is well equipped, the pool is lovely (although the swim up bar wasn't open during our stay) and, as I mentioned, the setting is really beautiful - the sunsets were exquisite.
I should note that the Ilot Maitre is included in the current Nourma bathing ban, which of course can't be helped by the resort! You can still borrow kayaks and other equipment... for a fee, of course.
Overall I think this place leaves a lot to be desired and I'd probably agree with some of the other reviews I've read that it's better to just do a day trip. I booked our stay here as a surprise for my partner, and in hindsight I kind of wish I'd splurged on a couple of days on the Isle of Pines instead.
