Der Service war prima und wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Bei Fragen aller Art wurde immer geholfen.
It was nice to be a bit further down the beach to have a quiet pier for relaxing with a coffee from the on site cafe
The reason I gave a 3 overall (and I would give 3.5 if I could) is the shower situation, there was zero hot water and zero pressure, meaning we couldn’t wash our hair for the whole stay, and barely could shower unless you wanted a cold shower trickling out, so I felt dirty for the whole stay.
Now I know the island as a whole has water pressure issues however, for $250 per night we would expect to be able to shower and have have hot water. Also, the cleaners do not come every day, nor do you get your towels changed every day.
I’m reviewing based on that a 5 is a 100% hotel. It’s a lovely, cute hotel but for the price, the shower/ hot water and no cleaning/towels situation brings it down to a 3.5 for me.
A week prior to my trip, Kari checked in with me and offered to stock my room with groceries and also book at taxi for me from Caye Caulker Airport. I took her up of both. Tropic Air put me on an earlier flight and I sent a message from BZE airport, expecting to need to wait a bit when I landed, but Peter was there ready to greet me.
They have a cafe on site and offer coffee/tea and croissant in the mornings. They even did laundry too. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay with them again the next time I'm in Caye Caulker.
I stayed at Colinda Cabanas for the second time in less than a year! December 2022 and November 2023 and I'm planning to return in December 2024.
Kari, the owner, as well as Emelita, Rosita and all of the staff are incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. They've helped us booked taxi rides to/from the airport and an island tour with a local taxi driver. I adore them all so much.
The cabanas and grounds are well-kept. No bugs, A/C blasting cool air, hammocks to lounge on, hot showers, plenty of drinking water and a full kitchen for some cabanas. The pier with the palapa is where you can soak up the sun or take in ocean breeze and views. There's even a resident, harmless iguana who loves to chill and bask in the sun near the pier. I call him Godzilla Junior.
As for the location, it's 10 minutes from "downtown" Caye Caulker. I don't know how one would complain about a TEN MINUTE walk to the other side of the island. The island's motto is "Go Slow" after all. Yes, the beachfront path (and all the roads) gets pretty wet after it rains but you're on an island with no paved streets. I recommend sandals with ankle straps or water shoes. Want dry land? Go to Aruba. Heck, I love that it's on the other side of the island away from bars, local businesses, other hotels and tourists. I want peace and quiet but I also want easy access to everything. Oh, bring a flashlight because it can get pretty dark on the island.
I highly, strongly recommend Colinda Cabanas. Such a wonderful place.
