Positives:
1. Skibus stop at the hotel.
2. All kinds of meat well prepared.
3. One day, we had lovely live music, harmonica, and guitar, it was awesome.
4. The bed is comfortable and the room is cozy.
5. There is a refrigerator in the room.
6. All staff was nice and polite.
Negatives:
1. In general, the food was mediocre except meat.
2. Desserts need improvement, they are below the line. In ****hotel, I would expect something like fondant or tiramisu, but we received hot raspberries and then a dollop of chocolate with maple syrup. All was tiny and so-so.
3. They offer 4 types of ice cream, but all are cheap. Also, the orange juice is nectar instead of pulp, the other juices are with added sugar.
4. I would expect fresh pancakes or the option to make waffles myself during breakfast. No such options.
5. Soups were ok, but not awsome.
6. Wifi is a total disaster. They have one router in the hall so to have a stable signal, you have to place a chair to your door and sit on it. Wifi on your bed disconnects regularly.
7. There is no single place where to set the temperature in to room. You have to manually turn the knobs at the radiators in a trial-error manner and it takes a whole day to set properly.
Additionally, there were a few weird things in this hotel I noticed.
1. They have forks with corroded tips. I understand that the cutlery is supposed to evoke the impression of rustic luxury, but a fork that changes color from silver to blue to black is too much. Maybe one day they will serve it with archeological treasures...
2. We like to sleep in cold, the room was too hot but even after shutting down all the radiators, it was too warm in the room.
3. They mix Sonoma oak (on the furniture) with some other kind of oak texture(the doors) in the room which feels inconsistent.
4. They gave us a menu for the day with a pen. So we expected we should tick our choices. But at the dinner, they did not know which food we selected and asked us again.
5. There was too much staff for the number of guests. Sometimes, the waitresses were just checking and wandering if everything was all right, not doing productive work.
Concluding remarks:
I think the hotel is good, great looking with a wonderful location and potential, but it needs improvements. Also, I think it runs inefficiently. The heating, sauna, live music, staff, and buffet dinner to some extent - all of them are fixed expenses. I was shocked to see less than half of the hotel was booked. In turn, value for the money wasn't that great. The hotel needs to be packed. I wish they increase the profits making themselves happier while making the customers also happier.
Renovated rooms are fresh and spacious. Restaurant decor was a bit outdated.
I recommend for a relaxing and unforgettable stay
Problems with dogs and bycicles.....
