I chose this place for what seemed to be hard-floored rooms and I was not disappointed. I was told that most of the rooms are remodeled at this point which was great news with my dust allergies. There's just some carpeting under the bed and that's it.
The room had everything I expected. A mini fridge and microwave aren't always a given so that was nice. The sectional in the front part of the room was great. My only complaint was the lack of soundproofing. Despite being on the 5th floor, I heard a fair amount of noise from the bar across the parking lot until it closed. Noise in the hall was pretty audible too and being right next to the elevator didn't help. For what it's worth, my partner slept right through it.
All things considered, I really enjoyed my stay and would happily return.
I tried to call the front desk only to find our phone was broken. I alerted the front desk to this issue twice during our stay and it was not fixed.
The elevators were constantly an issue, one or the other was broken at any given time. This caused a traffic issue for guests and it seems the hotel is without a service elevator as staff was also waiting for the one elevator that was working. At one point we waited 17 minutes to get on an elevator after breakfast.
Parking is $18/night. We did not have a car on this trip but were still charged this fee - it took several emails to get this corrected.
Location is convenient for driving/rideshare to the universal parks but there is a ton of construction happening on the street that causes traffic and noise in the hotel. There also isn't really anything you could comfortably walk to.
Breakfast options were decent, scrambled eggs, sausage, canadian bacon, fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, bagels, etc. No omlets, no waffle maker. The buffet area was very crowded and the staff were struggling to keep food, plates, etc. stocked. There also isn't enough tables to accommodate the number of guests at the hotel.
We travel to Orland 4+ times a year and have stayed in many hotels at this price point. We have high tier status with IHG and Hilton but decided to give Hyatt a try this time- unfortunately, we were unimpressed.
Pros: across from Universal Studios, if you can’t catch an Uber or shuttle you can walk from Universal back to this hotel, basic needs met, breakfast OK, Employee assistance and attitude was OK.
Cons: All that was available when we arrived early was “an awesome updated room with 2 queen beds” this was a huge mistake they put us in a connecting door room…a man talked on speakerphone from 10pm-2am and I did not sleep at all and had to go to Universal Studios like that. The connecting rooms you can hear everything on the other side. This hotel allows pets, they do bark if their owner is not around we experienced that a good bit. Our water was shut off during our stay for 4 hours and the power strip in between the beds for phone charger, lamp, hotel phone was out and we did not have a way to contact the front desk.
This hotel is meant for a short trip ONLY when you get there they say “We have Starbucks coffee!” But they don’t say you have to pay extra for it I kind of thought it was complimentary by the way she advertised it. Great location for the park but TONS of construction you have to deal with once there and men were at our window on the 7th floor doing construction when we got in the room. The beds were fine, the shower was OK, and the A/C is on a sensor so be aware of that too if you need it to run all night it shuts off some. When I asked a breakfast male employee how do I order the Starbucks coffee he looked at me weird and spoke with an attitude as if I was a burden to him for asking and told me you have to order with the front desk.
