Even has a roaming cat
The staff were all friendly but Adam really stood out as going above and beyond. He was extremely helpful in every aspect of our stay (more than any other hotel employee I’ve encountered at any property!) and had some great ghost stories to share. (Yes, the property is haunted! We didn’t see anything in our stay but even before I knew anything about the history of the hotel, I walked into our room and felt like something was there with us. I’m kind of glad we didn’t know the full history of that particular room until after we left!) We will definitely be returning our next NOLA trip.
We stayed in 208 - our sheets were stained and we found hair in the bed when we went to sleep on our sheets, the bottom one of which was on inside out. We were missing a shower curtain and a drain to the tub. The sink did not produce hot water and the cool air goes on and off. The TV is in demo-mode so it has every five minute ads that it overlays on whatever you are watching. There are also very few surfaces to put things on and outlets are few/far between (example: only on one side of the bed).
The courtyard has a fountain - it’s empty and dirty. The courtyard itself is a bit worse for wear and just not clean (good example: the stairs are in need of a good sweep/wash). Im not even sure there is a cleaning staff.
A downside of location, location, location is also that people in NOLA party and you are going to hear them at all hours. People at the front were sometimes there and sometimes not - nobody was super friendly/overly helpful, they were fine. If I were to stay here again, I’d stay on the first floor - though I’m not sure I’d stay here again.
It has potential to be quaint but it’s just not cared for, and it looks like previous reviews have said the same.
If you believe in ghosts, we experienced nothing, for what it’s worth.
