This place was highly recommended by several locals and I feel it lived up to the hype! We came at sort of a random day hour, so luckily no wait.
Tea Leaf salad was unique and fresh, made in front of you. I definitely recommend.
Also really liked the Fiery Chicken and Burmese Lamb Curry.
Service was really fast and friendly.
I recommend doing family-style and sharing and sampling.

After this dining experience, I feel like any other five stars I have given could be overrated. This place was perfect all around -- the service was wonderful with just the right amount of care, the ambience was great for a local family or a visitor (or both), and the food was AMAZING! Tea leaf salad, coconut rice, chili lamb, cauliflower, chicken biryani, and mango lassi were all fantastic. I'm definitely coming back and I will have a hard time debating between getting the same dishes as this time (because they were so good) and trying other ones (because I'm sure they'll be good too). So glad to have found this place!

Went to look for a lunch place and found this gem. Seated immediately even without reservations, and had our drinks going whilst we browsed on their menu.
We ordered their Burmese vermicelli salad, Crab with turmeric and ginger, and eggplant with garlic sauce! Super yummy!
Lee was super sweet and attentive! Definitely will come back here and try their other dishes!

Had a great intro to Burmese food here! I especially loved the tea leaf salad and the eggplant with garlic sauce. The service was great too. It was really cold outside and they surprisingly had blankets for us!

Burma Superstar is an absolute delight (well worth the 45 minute + wait). The service is always excellent, with attentive staff who were knowledgeable about the menu and eager to assist. The food was simply outstanding, bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly balanced spices. Each dish showcased the culinary expertise of the chefs and left us wanting more. What I’m truly impressed by is the consistency; every visit to this restaurant has been excellent, lunch or dinner, any day of the week. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this fine restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. Five stars all around!

Great vegetarian options that are not overwhelmingly spicy. Tea leaf salad and somusa soup came out in a minute; hence the service is quick.

Highly recommend if you are looking for food with tremendous amount of flavor. TBH I was skeptical at first as to how I would like Burmese cuisine, however my doubts were cleared when we got our food. There were three of who went, including a vegetarian. The food was delivered relatively quickly after ordering. We ordered three different appetizers including the tea leaf salad, the platha&dip, and the vegetarian samusa soup. The salad was very refreshing, the soup was aromatic with lots of flavor and the platha was hearty and nourishing. For our mains we ordered the Burmese lamb curry, the mint chicken, and the firecracker cauliflower. This was a lot of food for 3 people, but we ended up taking it home. Please add this to your list of places to eat in SF. Cons: long wait time (on Thursday night it was 1 hour) but thats expected given the high quality food.

What a great time! We sat outside and Jane took great care of us, even thinking to bring a plastic bag for our to go because I mentioned I was sticking it in my backpack! Samosas, yea leaf salad, chicken flat noodles, and eggplant tofu curry were all tasty AF. We're stoked to try Bstar bar next time!

An excellent restaurant with dishes full of variety and flavor. Space is a bit limited (good luck trying to find parking - Uber instead, if feasible) but worth the wait. Samosas, platha, and coconut rice were among my favorite items.

First time having Burmese food, very very good. Went with my wife for lunch, had a lovely time. The staff was warm, polite and helpful. The food was really delicious. The samosas came with a fresh bright sauce, the coconut rice was creamy and flavorful , and we had some noodles with a curry sauce which was something else, also great. My only regret is that I could not try other stuff in the menu that also looked delicious. Next time in San Francisco we are coming again for sure.

The hype surrounding this place didn't match up to the experience. While the ambience was pleasant, the only highlight was the chef's preparation of the Tea Leaf Salad. However, the rest of the dishes fell short.
The Platha and Dip felt overpriced, with a meager portion of sauce provided. Even requesting extra sauce incurred an unreasonable charge. The Fire Cracker Cauliflower was mediocre, and the Tofu Eggplant was passable at best.
The only saving grace was that the kids enjoyed the Nan Pia Dok. Overall, it's not a place I'd recommend to friends based on the overhyped expectations versus the actual experience.

I used to love this place when I was living in SF a few years ago. Went in person multiple times! I ordered delivery last night and was extremely disappointed at the taste and quality of the food. We got the Okra Tofu and the Mint chicken, and the Plata with the curry sauce. Each dish was disappointing. Just poorly executed and carelessly made. Not sure what happened over the years.

So delicious and clean
But $51 for dumplings beef and brown rice is next level
$6.50 for sparkling water should be investigated
No tissues or utensils for a take out order is ridiculous
Excellent food though

My friend June shared how excellent is for everything and how when she lived in the neighborhood, she went to the restaurant every day. All the items she suggested excellent, the service excellent, the restaurant relaxing. My first time to try Burmese food, and now I understand what everyone meant by how much they love this food. Thank you so much!

The tea leaf salad is my favorite, with lots of other great dishes. The worst part is the wait time. If you can, get there earlier to put your name in, then plan to be back in 45 minutes.

Recently, I ordered catering from here and it was amazing!! I ordered 5 half trays over the phone for a party of 10 and Derrick, floor manager was so kind and patient even though I could hear it was very busy in the background.
It was pouring rain when I picked up the trays and Derrick walked with us to the car with an umbrella to help us! The trays came with all the serving utensils and cute food placards to name the dishes.
I ended up making my own carb dish (garlic noodles) to cut costs (you can prob make your own rice too if you have time) but I was very tempted to try their coconut rice.
The food was securely packed and also was still warm and tasting delicious about an hour after pick up time.
I ordered the platha dip, sticky fingers, chili lamb, egg plant w garlic sauce, and tea leaf salad (Which is great bc it comes with the dressing on the side and un mixed so it won’t get soggy if you don’t serve it right away)
