Amazing food especially the grilled scallops. Pastas were cooked perfectly leaving you wanting more with every bite

Absolutely wonderful and interesting meal. We walked in on a Tuesday and were seated at the bar within 30 minutes. The arancini were perfectly crisp. We had 2 pastas, the braised squid pasta had a subtle spice. And the pizza... I would eat their pizza all the time if I lived nearby. The space is small and modern, a bit loud but the service was perfect.

Excellent vibes and impeccable service. This was my second time doing their tasting menu. It’s an amazing experience — however, as a vegetarian, my menu was less thought out than that of my fellow guests. It seemed like every vegetarian pasta relied on mushrooms. Don’t get me wrong, I love mushrooms, but as part of a 9-10 course tasting menu I really was craving more variety. I hope the next time I come the vegetarian dishes are infused with the same creativity and variety as the regular tasting menu.

The food here is incredible, with a good selection of wines. While they offer a tasting menu, we found the à la carte options to be better.

We tried the amberjack crudo, duck pasta, mushroom pasta, and lamb pasta, all of which were delicious. Our favorite was the lamb. Don't miss out on the ricotta! However, we weren't fans of the white pizza due to the abundance of whole garlic.

The service was friendly and efficient. Be sure to make reservations online and note that there is street parking available nearby.

We visited Flour + Water back in October and I am still dreaming about the meal we had there. My partner picked out the restaurant as the #1 place he wanted to eat during our vacation to SF when he saw the pasta tasting menu online, and it did not disappoint. They have a strict policy for the tasting menu that requires everyone at your table to participate. I have an annoying raw vegetable allergy, and unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that most of the dishes on the tasting menu had raw vegetables in them that could not be removed. So, our waiter told us we would not be able to do the tasting menu, and I immediately descended into despair thinking me came all this way and neither of us would be able to enjoy the experience. I felt horrible! But the manager was so incredibly kind, saw how upset I was, and offered to make an exception for us. I was able to order a few regular menu dishes and they timed them to come out with the tasting menu courses I could not eat. I will forever be grateful! The pasta chip, corn arancini, and taleggio scarpinocc were to die for. Thank you so much, Flour + Water!

Food is so amazing. Good wine selection. They also have a tasting menu, but think a la carte is better.

Pictured below are the amberjack crudo, duck pasta, mushroom pasta, and lamb pasta. All delicious though the lamb was our fav. Also get the ricotta! The white pizza had a ton of whole garlic on it so we were not a fan

Although everything we ordered looked beautiful, sadly 2 of the 3 pastas were really uninteresting. Starters were good but we left feeling disappointed with mains.

3 friends and I were refused alcohol even though every one of us was sober. We think we were refused based on how we were dressed, in St. Patty’s attire. Super unfortunate because we were excited to eat, but never again will we attend here. Horrible service.

There are very few restaurants that serve amazing vegetarian prix fixe menus (every single item on the menu was a 10/10), and also leave you feeling full / content at the end of your meal. Flour + water does that! Highly recommend for a special occasion splurge!

Everything was cooked well, but apps and pasta tasted either very bland or too dressed with lemon. Music was also very loud so tables in our section were talking over each other to hear.

Flour+Water was an insanely great experience. every dish i tried was in the top tier of things i have ever tried. The amberjack in citrus sauce i almost considered just ordered a couple more and eating JUST THAT... but i had already ordered a couple other things. at some point i asked the waitstaff her preference across a couple pasts dishes i was considering, and i think she and i both heard different things - so the happy accident was that she brought all of them... and i ate them all anyway, all crazy good. the caramelle with squash stuffing was divine. Anyway, trying to figure out when i can make it back with more friends and family to be sure they try it too.

5 star meal, service, and atmosphere! My partner and I did the tasting menu and boy it did not disappoint. We were so inspired that we bought the cookbook and now make fresh pasta regularly. From the fresh pasta, to the perfectly curated menu, and delicious wine selection—this place is a MUST for anyone visiting or living in SF.

Not sure if I'm adding anything that hasn't been said already, but the tasting menu with wine pairing is indulgent and worth every penny. Easily something I would show out of town friends.

The menu is more than that, however, as the a la carte stuff if so friggin good Im glad I don't live nearby - i would eat here all the time.

Visited on a Saturday 5pm (w reservation). Service was cordial and fast all the way. No rush for anything and good recommendations. Opted for a wine (great options, variety of prices), 2 appetizers and 2 pastas. The amberjack crudo is definitely not great looking, but had a nice citric mix of flavors. Highlight was definitely the beet with all textures and flavors. For the pastas, menu is quite lean.. personally I dont love “stuffed pasta” and that was a big portion of the options. The Veal was nice and ended up being a better option than the second pasta,the chestnut triangoli (no pics, kind of boring dish). Experience overall was great and I would come back to try other dishes - or even the course menu!

I (party of 2) walked in with no reservation, asked if they take walk-ins & got asked to wait for a moment. 2 men then walked in right AFTER me & asked the same thing (with NO reservations either!!!!) and were sent to their table right away. Then the server turned to me & ask me to wait for half an hour bcs there were no tables left? Funny.

Okay so what do you get when you add water to flour? Hypothetically? You would get incredible yummy tasting Italian dough to make incredible pastas and pizzas and other various Italian dishes with. However, this place absolutely failed at doing what they so adamantly advertised! I can't do it right now. This place used to be really. This place used to be very famous and I was really excited to go here and my excitement level diminished while I was there from a five to a zero. No I have to leave ..
