The front desk refused to move us to a different room, telling us they were fully booked, only to then back track and tell us the only rooms available were on the same floor as us. The staff was rude and the manager would not be available to speak to us until the next morning. We had an early morning the next day so we went to bed to get some sleep around 11pm, but the loud construction kept us awake.
The construction started late, around 10pm, and the front desk told us multiple times that it's illegal to continue construction past 12AM and assured us it would stop then. Fast forward to 12AM and the construction was still going with no signs of stopping. 3 full hours later they stopped at 3am and we finally could get some sleep (The video attached is at 2:11AM). We called the front desk and went down in person multiple times and every time we were basically told there's nothing they could do.
The next morning we got an email from the manager to refund our first night stay. The construction equipment was still out on the street, so we asked for a different room in case they kept working again. They said they would ONLY move us if the construction started up again, likely late at night when we would be trying to sleep. So we just decided to cancel our next night and find somewhere else to stay.
Overall, an extremely frustrating experience at this hotel. Lost sleep and just something you don't want to have to deal with on vacation. Service was unhelpful and we just felt like unvalued guests at the hotel. I know this construction is not a regular occurrence, but how the hotel staff handled it was unacceptable. At the end of the day we got a full refund for both nights booked (I had to hound the hotel to give me a full refund as they only gave me a partial refund at first even though a full refund was promised - another poor experience).
I stayed here for one night as a change of pace from central Rome and it felt so much better! Way less people up here, way less crowds and the hotel itself was amazing. When I was checking in, they notified me I had won guest of the day? Which meant that they gave me a free welcome drink, complimentary breakfast, 15% off rooftop dining and an upgraded room!
The room itself was very comfortable, there is a small gym below that works for the size of the hotel. It is a 20 minute walk from Termini so still very close
Our room was very spacious, luxurious and very clean.
The room was quiet with a view of the city walls and the gardens surrounding Villa Borghese and very centrally located.
The breakfast was lovely, hot and cold buffet, lovely pastries, great coffee. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
We were 100% satisfied with our stay and will definitely recommend The Tribune in future.
