Pros
- Lovely and friendly staff in all areas of the hotel from reception, room service, resturaunt, bar and pool areas.
- The public areas of the hotel are all very luxurious and well maintained.
- Standard of the breakfast buffet was mostly very good.
- Room pleasant (but small).
- Very good wifi in the room and around the hotel areas.
- Fixed an issue with our room very promptly.
Cons
- We booked a deluxe double room which was pleasant enough but it was very small, had limited storage for two people and only had two hooks for hanging wet towels. My partner and I were constantly getting in each others way due to the size of the room. Perhaps our fault for not really paying more attention to room size and perhaps this is considered more a city hotel where room sizes are generally smaller than resort hotels.
- Our room had a balcony but had a view of the hotel lobby entrance roof which didn't really entice us to use the balcony and was a real disappointment. Some forewarning at hotel reception would have been nice to see if we were OK with this.
- Breakfast was generally very good but nearly every day some foods were either replenished slowly causing wait times or unavaible due to demand. Commonly either milk, fresh orange, smoked salmon, bacon, scrambled egg wasn't available and we had to ask for it to be replenished. The staff looked run off their feet and I can only assume the staff cannot keep up with demand.
- Often when we sat down at a table we had to ask for coffee as hotel staff never came to the table to ask us. Staff are lovely though.
- There seems to be a problem with mosquitos in the pool area as both my partner and I were literally eaten alive. I'm still covered in bites now almost two weeks later it was that bad. Again perhaps we could have mitigated this ourselves with repellent but also the hotel could try to do something about it by supplying repellent or adding something on the tables or around the pool and bar area to repel the mosquitos (it is possible).
- Aircon in our room was next to useless.
All in all not a bad hotel but after staying in many resort hotels over the years this is no where no near up there with our expectations especially when we know how good 5* hotels can be (with our experiences in Spain for example).
One thing to be aware of if you've never been to the old town area of Rhodes before. And nothing to do with the hotel. The roads are a nightmare to cross when walking from the hotel to the old town. You literally take your life in your hands as where there are any pedestrian crossings no drivers pay attention to them. So you have to be very very careful when crossing the road and wait for a suitable gap on what are very very busy roads on the outskirts of the old town. There is next to no consideration for pedestrians for crossing the roads safely - so families beware.
To whom that may concern,
We made a reservation for my wife and myself to stay on August 1- 7, 2022 for 5 nights for 816€ Stay at Rhodes Park Suits & Spa Hotel.
Our 11-year-old son had to come with us on our trip. While checking into the hotel, we requested an extra bed in our room for a fee, but they said that they did not have rooms that could accommodate an extra bed.
When we asked how they could help us, they said they could upgrade our room for 324€ per night.
For an 11-year-old child, it was not logical to pay 2 adults for a pull-out sofa bed, but it was very difficult to find another hotel at that time in an unfamiliar country. Since there was no other option, we had to accept it.
The next day, when we thought again with a clear head, we decided that it made no sense to pay this fee for one child and we vacated the room, but the hotel did not accept to refund our fee in any way. He told us that we had a reservation for two people and that 2 people could stay in this hotel. Since we could not send our son to another hotel, I and my son would stay in the hotel and my husband would move to another hotel.
We were given a room for 2 people. When we came to the room to stay for the night, there was a heavy smell of dampness in the room. Then we noticed that the sheets and pillows were dirty. The bathroom and sink were not cleaned, the walls of the room were mouldy from the dampness, the baseboards were swollen and the inside of the air conditioner ventilation was covered with dust. Photos will be sent according to request. We asked the attendant to change our room, but he said that there were no vacant rooms in the hotel.
They brought clean sheets and we waited for half an hour for an attendant to come and change the sheets, but when we called reception, they told us that there was no cleaning staff in the hotel because it was late at night and we had to change the sheets. Although I made a reservation for myself in another hotel because my wife and son did not speak English, I did not want to leave them alone in this hotel that did not help its guests in any way late at night. And I stayed with them until the morning.
In the morning, although 2 of us went down to the breakfast room, the attendant in the breakfast room said that only 2 of us could have breakfast. What was this warning? We gave up having breakfast in the face of this impolite rude attitude.
We wanted to meet with the hotel manager to talk about the room victimization we experienced. He spoke to us at the door of his room with his hands in his pockets without even inviting us to his room in a very unprofessional manner. He made attitudes and conversations in a way that accused us without trying to help in any way. He spoke as if there was no problem in the room and we were causing problems.
Instead of accepting the mistake they made, which did not fit into customer satisfaction and hospitality in any way, they could not tolerate these attitudes and conversations that blamed the other party anymore and said that we would leave the hotel by saying that we would leave the hotel and the road was on this side.
We paid a total of 1140€ for this hotel. We could only stay for 2 nights. We had breakfast only for 1 day. On top of that, we encountered a disgraceful attitude, We spent 2 disgraceful days and spent a day looking for a hotel again in a country we did not know.
I definitely do not recommend you to stay in this hotel, which is among the so-called a member of Small Luxury Hotel of The World hotels. I have no idea how you have included this hotel in that list.
Friendly and professional staff. Delicious food and glamorous poolside eating. Music entertainment is worth a listen. I was amazed I could see five hundred year old ruins from my hotel balcony.
The only criticism I have is that the room air-conditioning smells mouldy and doesn't appear to cool the room.
