I wanted to write about the reality in this place, as all the information on their website is completely misleading. This was my first time in Paxoi; my husband had been there in the past, and we stayed in the hotel for 11 nights. Despite the website portraying itself as a 5-star boutique hotel, in reality is more like a bed & breakfast.

The building and the garden are beautiful, and for me, these are the only two positive aspects of this place. However, the rooms are dirty. Our room, in particular, was very dirty. Dust was everywhere; you could run your finger along surfaces, and it would turn black. The rubbish bin was filled with things that weren't ours, and there were dirt spots on the bedsheets and the couch. I understand that the rooms may be old, but it seems like nobody really wants to take good care of the place. Many things in the room were damaged.

We did complain about the cleanliness of the room, and it did improve the next day, but there was still a lot of dust. I had to point out areas to the cleaning staff where dust remained. It appeared that the manager was unable to see it. For instance, the rack where you hang your towels was utterly filthy, and he cleaned it the next day. The cleaning staff have 7 hours to clean 9 rooms, some of which are quite large. It might be more reasonable to provide them with more time to ensure proper cleanliness, especially when new guests arrive.

All the services they advertise on their website don't seem to exist. There are no cocktails, lunch, or dinner. They claim this was the case because it was end of the season, but I've read reviews from throughout the year, and many people have complained about this. The breakfast is not a buffet; it's à la carte. That's fine, but they claim it's all fresh, which is not true. Except for the eggs and fruits, everything else is ultra-processed, and nothing is homemade. There's an excellent bakery just 5 minutes away, and yet they purchase this horrible ultra-processed bread from the supermarket. The typical white sandwich bread that you can find in any supermarket. Even the spanakopita, cakes, etc., are from the supermarket and of really poor quality. All of them appear to be frozen or ultra-processed, which is not what you'd expect from a supposed 5-star hotel.

There's a staff member at breakfast named George who tries to be funny but comes off as too much. He made a political joke that I found inappropriate and offensive, and I asked him to stop talking about this. However, he started shouting at me. I never returned to the breakfast area during my 11-night stay. This is not the kind of behaviour one would expect from a 5-star hotel. First, you don't make certain jokes to people you don't know because they may not want to hear certain things, and when you ask someone to stop talking about a subject, they shouldn't shout at you.

The internet doesn't work, but this didn't bother me personally. However, I noticed that many guests were indeed bothered by this issue. The air conditioning stopped working three times, but a very nice guy fixed it. It appears to be the kind of hotel that wants to showcase its luxury, but the reality is that the owner is not taking proper care of it. They seem to prioritize money over quality. The rooms are quite expensive for what you get. I don't mind paying for a good room, but I expect the services to be equally excellent in proportion to the cost.

The overall impression I got from the island is that the majority of the locals are excessively driven by money, and they don't seem to care about the quality of the product they offer. They are neglecting the island's upkeep, and it appears they prioritize financial gain over maintaining quality.

The hotel is perfect. From the moment you arrive you feel that you are taken cared of. Denis is super knowledgeable of the local area, the best beaches, bars, and restaurants - and even what to order. Nothing was ever too much to ask.
George serves a fabulous breakfast, where you can almost have whatever you'd like. The omelette is delicious, and the fruit salad alone with Greek yoghurt is a must. He is more than happy to help, and make sure you start the day off in the best way.
Joanna is warm and friendly, and went out of her way to make sure we had the best time on Paxos that we could. She arranged our scooter to be at the hotel for when we arrived, and also gave us great tips for our onwards journey to Athens, even giving us her number in case we needed more help when we got there.
The hotel is a very special place. It's totally relaxing, well kept, and tranquil. The pool is a small haven amongst the beautiful gardens, and the room was well thought out, and a great base for us to explore the island.
We already cannot wait to return, and have honestly never felt so sad to leave such a welcoming and uniquely warm place to stay.

A really 5* experience for a very fair price. We will definitely get back to Paxoi next year.
