FILOXENIA HOTEL * * * *

The positives:
Extremally clean. We could not fault the cleanliness of all areas of the property, and thankfully for an island holiday, not an insect or cockroach to be found!
The staff are very friendly and helpful; they work and do their utmost to make things run as smoothly as possible.
The property is easily accessible from the local village, capital town and airport.
The negatives:
The beds are terrible and the room is surrounded by noise! We we stayed in room 116, which is in the back corner, of the second building - next to the stairwell & lift. This resulted in not being able to use our room terrace as it was on a very busy walk-way so no privacy or relaxation as we were in shade the entire time. Also, the area has two types of tile flooring, which means that when the laundry delivery and cleaning staff are moving around at 6am onwards, you hear what sounds like a train passing through the room every morning.
If the noise doesn't wake you, the bed(s) certainly will. The setup felt like you were sleeping directly on a divan with no mattress. I'm used to a firm mattress, but this was ridiculous!
The entertainment was awful - we arrived on 30th September for a week, leaving 7th October and were repeatedly told by many establishments that it was the "end of season"; we were aware of this before traveling and have been to may resorts around this time of year and expect things to be 'winding down' on par with this time of year. However, with plenty of guests arriving daily throughout our stay, there was still life on the island that needed entertaining. Sadly, our stripped back entertainment program (3 nights out of 7) made us have to seek out and spend additional money, on top of our all inclusive package, for entertainment. It was also very disappointing that the pool table was 2 euro a game, making it extremally expensive.
The 'all inclusive package' is not as wide as other locations; many usual options such as martini/vermouth and apperol/bitters were excluded and the quality of beer was really not good. Unlike other resorts we've visited, the food and drink offering was not readily available, (limited times and offerings,) nor of a quality we would expect.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and I cannot rate the staff highly enough, but the property is very dated, and in need of aesthetic and quality improvement
