On the hanging bridges hike with Harold, our guide, we learned interesting facts about the wildlife, trees and plants. Walking above and through the treetops is an exciting experience. Bike Arenal takes care of everything from pick up at the hotel, entering the preserve and arranging for a guide. Mucho gracias ????
The next day another great excursion with Bike Arenal. We rode on good bikes, which made it fun and exciting to ride the hilly and winding paved roads around Lake Arenal. The beginning is uphill and the hardest part of the ride. With Adrial, our guide, at the front and the driver in a pickup truck behind us, we felt protected from the traffic behind us. Drivers in cars and trucks were patient and respectful about waiting to pass us. Most of the time, it was raining, so bring a jacket and dry clothes. When we finished halfway at 45 km, we decided to call it a day and rode back in the pickup truck. Casado at Soda La Palma was delicious. Mucho, mucho gracias ????????♀️????

I recently rented a bike from "Bike Arenal" and went on a beautiful day trip to "Mirador El Silencio". Overall, I had a fantastic experience with the bike rental shop and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the area by bike.
Firstly, the staff at the shop were extremely friendly and helpful. They provided me with a well-maintained bike, a helmet, and a lock, and gave me detailed instructions on how to get to the Mirador El Silencio trailhead. They also gave me some great tips on other local bike routes to explore, which was very helpful.
The bike itself was in great condition and perfect for the terrain I was riding on. The trail to Mirador El Silencio was a bit steep and rocky at times, but the bike handled it with ease. I felt safe and comfortable the entire ride.
The scenery on the ride was absolutely breathtaking. I was surrounded by lush jungle and could hear the sounds of nature all around me. When I reached the Mirador El Silencio lookout point, I was rewarded with stunning views of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. It was truly a memorable experience.
Overall, I would highly recommend this bike rental shop to anyone looking to explore the La Fortuna area by bike. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bike was in great condition, and the scenery was simply stunning. I can't wait to come back and explore more of the area on two wheels!

We had a very nice guide, Antonio, who biked us around beautiful places with lots of information about everything. Our car broke down before and he helped us out as well. Very recommandable tour!

I did the “Lake Arenal Outskirts” tour in other Bike Arenal and it was incredible! I reached out and asked to schedule a tour by myself and they were very accommodating. In fact the owner, Alejandro, accompanied me on my tour! After I expressed that I was worried I wouldn’t be able to complete the full 40 miles, Alejandro adapted the ride to meet me where I was and ensure that I would have a good time. He was very encouraging, friendly, and funny, we laughed so much during the tour. This tour was a highlight for me on my trip to CR! Highly recommend booking with Bike Arenal, they are the absolute best!

Short review:
Guide and driver, 5 stars
Owner, 3 stars (prompt communication but lack of transparency on bikes)
Bikes, 1 star
Long review:
The tour itself was fine although all on paved roads and with a fair amount of traffic, so not really a “MTB tour”. Ore guide, Antonio, is a great guy and he and the driver made the tour worthwhile. Antonio speaks good English, Italian (the main language during the tour), and German and he entertained us with interesting facts about local history and culture.
The bikes quality is a very different and much worse story. I reached out ahead of time to find out about the bikes offering and I was provided with no information. Once I saw the bikes I realized why: we were offered old, hardly maintained, hard tail clunkers:#1 had water spurting out of the fork seals! Bike #2 skipped the chain on almost all gears due to a worn out chain and cassette. The fork felt very stiff, with no regulation and a broken lock out. It gets even worse but no point in beating a dead horse.
If you can get Antonio as a guide and a better bike, Bike Arenal is a decent option for a fun bike tour, although the course options are limited and not always require a mountain bike.

We arranged a 1/2 bike tour and really enjoyed the ride. The guide was great, pace was excellent. The driver had fresh pineapple, banana and snacks along with beer or water at the 1/2 way point which was fantastic, a really nice touch. The mountain bikes were in great shape, easy to ride. I would highly recommend this ride to anyone considering an awesome ride with great scenery! If anyone knows why these posts pictured say "ice" please let me know. ????

One of the worst services I have received in Costa Rica. Unfriendly staff and very clunky bikes. Flat tires, malfunctioning gears and overall rude people.

Paid for a jeep-boat-jeep tour… got a late sticky bus-floating barge-old bus tour.
I wonder how this is even legal in terms of advertising to lie so much.
The tour is operated by another company (which is clearly a baddd tour operator.) though if you like to be scammed, note that the operating agency only charges $27 when Bike Arenal charges $28 per person.
Why does it take 3h30 to do 40 kilometers in distance? Because the first bus (advertised as a jeep) is late and because the driver of the second bus (advertiser as a jeep as well) announces a 15 min stop, which is actually 35 minutes since he is enjoying the meal of a lifetime at a commercial bus stop while all the guests are bored waiting for him to come back.
Wanna go to the bathroom? You will have to pee in a bush as most of us did since there was no communication regarding potential stops

We booked a Jeep-Boat-Jeep from La Fortuna to Monteverde; we showed up in front of our hotel 20 minutes before pick-up time and waited for - what we thought it would be - a Jeep to pick us up. After a 10 minutes delay we texted the contact number only to have a mini-van that had been parked at the entrance with a different company's name back out and finally ask us if we were booked on the trip. That cued unhappy travelers who blamed us for waiting and not showing up on time when we were there much ahead of the agreed time. We had texted the number but no-one called us asking for our whereabouts which prompted a delay that was completely unnecessary. We wouldn't have guessed the mini-van packed with other people was indeed the Jeep transfer we booked, especially as the van had a totally different name on it. Upon reading the description of the website, you will indeed see the transfer is done by mini-van, but it is in no way comfortable as we had to get the seats in the back of the van, where the wheel pops out.
If you look up the itinerary on Google Maps, La Fortuna to Santa Elena takes 2h45 by car; the boat section doesn't add anything to the trip, makes it longer and is a waste of time, as the total duration of the trip was 3h30. There isn't any toilet stop until you get to the very last section of the trip; a commercial stop where the coffee place owner clearly has an agreement with the company/drivers so they can make their commission. Many people had to "go to the toilet" in the forest when getting the boat. The road is in a poor condition with lots of potholes which the driver doesn't seem to be bothered to avoid. It is relatively cheap and there's somewhat of an organization taking place to gather travelers going to the same hotels in the same van when you get off the boat, I'll give it two stars for that reason.
Why would you called this a Jeep-boat-Jeep transfer, this is very misleading and false advertising.
