Excellent menu - superb choice.
The food was excellent - great quality ingredients - high caliber of cooking skill - the flavours were fantastic.
The sauce with the lamb was so, so good.
Unfortunately, there were a few downsides.
(1) The "croquettes" were poor - the inside was too wet, the outside was not crispy enough and had a "burnt" taste to them.
Personally, I would have described them more as savoury beignet's - becasue they definitely were not croquettes.
(2) whilst the staff were very competent and very good - there was just a little air of arrogance for my liking. I believe it would be my decision if a dish is nice rather than a staff member calling to the desk to tell me that the food is great...!!!
(3) but most important of all - the hot food jut was not hot - it was a tad above luke warm - therefore we had to rush eating our food before it went cold - which really takes the gloss off the meal and overall experience.
I truly hate when chefs/restaurants can not serve hot food hot - it really is so disappointing.
Such a pity - because the cooking skill and food flavours are truly amazing.
Would I recommend this restaurant - yes - but ONLY if you are happy to eat luke warm food.
Pichet was just nice. The food was tasty but overpriced as it wasn’t exceptional and the portion was small. The main issue for me was the lack of atmosphere. The ambiance, decor and lighting were nothing special especially for being so expensive and the seating arrangement was just awkward.
The food was amazing - we had the set menu of 68.50e per person and it was more than enough. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked!
All in all, great food, service and atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.
On the occasion of my wife's 60th birthday we had a fantastic time with 19 in our party with all the usual requirements and tastes.
The set menu for €68.50 was excellent value with just enough variety to give a good choice. The selected wines were fantastic, particularly the Monterals Chardonnay.
The waitress and the rest of the staff were superlative, everyone on the night and afterwards sang their praises for everything. It was worth every cent.
So why only 4 stars?
Well the process to book the table and check the menus had been ongoing for 2 months with a couple of site visits as well as a business dinner beforehand to taste the wines and check things out.
Everyone knew this was a 60th birthday celebration. This would have explained all too well the requirement for a prosecco toast ordered in advance for short speech and welcome.
Now I fully understand on a Valentine's weekend that no romantic couple wants to hear a loud party go through interminable I love you speeches at the nearby table. The issue I have is that the perfectly reasonable restaurant policy that speeches be held back to the end of the evening was not explained beforehand.
This would have saved €160 worth of Prosecco to the right time.
But that wasn't the problem. The problem was the passive aggressive manager explaining this firmly and repeatedly, then repeatedly, then repeatedly again and again and again putting me in an excruciating and embarrassing situation where the entire party just wanted to yell at hm to shut up and/or punch his lights out.
My wife was in tears.
There is an easy solution to this.
First, ensure your staff are trained so that they can communicate restaurant policy on speeches at an early stage so everyone is clear.
Second, send your restaurant manager on a course on manners and cop-on so he doesn't do his very best to ruin what was a 5 star experience.
