We literally stumbled on this restaurant as we walked away from the Puccini concert in St John's. It is amazingly elegant beautifully decorated with attentive service very good prices and a history that goes back astoundingly to 1414 or even perhaps 700 years before that!
The cook is apparently the mother of the maitrê d' and with only two running the dining room the service is relaxed. But you want that in order to enjoy the beautiful environment. Many popular places like to have a boisterous energy. But Locanda Del Angelo has a restrained quiet elegant energy.
I had the sea bass and it was presented in a way I've never seen, circular! My wife had the sesame encrusted swordfish. Both were delicious! We each had a dessert, an orange creme bruleé and the pistachio semifreddo. They were also beautifully presented and delicious. My wife had two glasses of dry white wine and the price was unbelievably low.
In short this is what we call a serendipity! If we were here for more than a week you can be sure we would go back multiple times.
