I brought my family here for mother's day afternoon tea and we were all blown away. Impeccable service, flawless food and stunning interior. Thank you so much for making it such a special day.

The hotel is well decorated and clean. The staff is very awkward to deal with and many of them speak in English, but don’t seem to actually understand English. We stayed in Room 2, which is in the basement below the restaurant. From 6:30 a.m. on you hear footsteps pounding above you. The bath tub/shower is basically inaccessible for anyone who is not somewhat athletic and coordinated. Another problem with the room is that the only window allows people sitting in the restaurant to look directly into the room from 30 feet away.

This hotel is probably fine if you are not in rooms 1 to 4, which are all in the basement. Request not to be in Room 2 unless you want to be awoken each day at 6:30 without a wakeup call.

This hotel was where the bride prepared for her wedding in Chelsea and it was the most amazing start to her wedding day. As the wedding photographer I was impressed with how helpful the staff were.

Absolutely gorgeous and fantastic hotel!! The decor is stunning and full of inspiration for my home. The workers are so nice and helpful. Zero complaints. Now my go-to hotel whenever I am in London. Looking forward to staying in their other properties

Nice affordable afternoon tea in a lovely location. The hotel is charming and the decor intriguing. You get what you pay for, it’s very decent and the ambience is lovely! Service is great. we didn’t get charged for asking for more hot water in the tea pot.

I’ve exclusively visited their restaurant so couldn’t say anything regarding the other premises. The hotel generally speaking looks very unique, charming and well attended. I’d easily say it’s posh hotel and the staying is potentially high standard. The restaurant in terms of service is okay, but the food itself left a lot to be desired specially for the price charged. No special dishes at all, very restricted menu with none impressive options. They’ve sold out all their Italian options, the Ragu and Gnocchi. Wine options not a big thing, the salmon dish was also very very average. Overall, if you’re really into special restaurants, this one is not a good choice, however I’d highly recommend for a tea or drink to enjoying the great environment around. Avg of 75£/person without drinking, start + main. Absolutely overpriced for what they delivered as a dishes.

Number 16 is part of the Whitby family. The staff are so very welcoming and helpful. The accommodations are amazingly comfortable and well appointed. This is not your typical hotel. It much more akin to a large house. There are several salons for sitting with comfy couches and chairs. I was in town for work, so I sank into one with my laptop. You really hate to leave the hotel. But the good news is when you return at night there is the Honesty Bar for a night cap and a chef on site in case you are hungry. I will return with my family and more days to truly luxuriate at Number 16. I highly recommend!

There are over the top name brand luxury hotels, there are not so well known intermediate hotels and there are budget hotels in London … all levels for all travelers.
But then there is Firmdale Hotel Group’s NUMBER SIXTEEN that stands out in the most unassuming way.
Located in South Kensington in a row of classic townhouses at 16 Summer Place. No sign … just traditional gold lettering on the transom over the front door.
Entering the hotel is like you are arriving at a friend’s house for a visit. Kit Kemp, the founder and creative director of Firmdale Hotels has worked her magic in creating a fun, sophisticated, comfortable space … attention to detail is an understatement.
The staff is delightful, the restaurant cozy and charming, the garden magical and the rooms leave nothing to want for. There is an honor bar in one of the two sitting areas for a cocktail or glass of wine. You can also have afternoon tea in these beautiful spaces.
Hyde Park is very close for getting your daily steps in and makes up for the hotel not having any exercise equipment.
All of this and for one of the best prices in London for this quality and location.
I highly recommend Number Sixteen. We can’t wait to go back.

Lovely place. They are a bit weird when you come in to have tea. If you’re external they make excuses for you to not come in and the you realise that the restaurant is empty. Shame.

We had afternoon tea here during the week; luckily we were able to squeeze in a reservation the day before! You have to email for a table. The experience was delightful and quite a deal— great tea and soft scones, a peaceful atmosphere in the garden, and attentive but not intrusive service. We will be back next year!

They refused to give us room service, telling if we wanted anything we have to go ourselves to the bar downstairs, then also said they had forbidden to bring alcohol to the room and they say they were very busy when it was empty, so if you go to this hotel for a romantic night with your husband, forget about it… we had to leave… The staff didn’t care at all, they were absolutely the worst, and definitely they didn’t even wanted to give us the invoice when we left… 2h later, they said: we have your details and didn’t even bother to do the check out; This hotel definitely is not a 5 stars, they show 0 empathy, and laziness was the description of the people working in reception, that by the way was dirty, untidy and full of digestive biscuits under the counter and they were eating while doing nothing; Also they refused to pass us with the manager to complain about their refusal of bringing dinner and drinks to the room, we chose this hotel because we had a great experience in the haymarket, but nothing similar or even close of you compare… the ruined our night

We popped to the Orangery for dinner this week. It’s a lovely place to go for a drink or maybe the afternoon tea. But definitely not for dinner. The menu choice is very restrict, and wine list the same. We have the first booking of the evening at 7pm, and only with one table more, service was super slow, the drinks took ages to arrive, wine was served warm- horrible! The lady was lovely, but unfortunately service was below expectations.
I had the orecchiette, it was terrible! Any Italian citizen would have returned the dish.
Certainly the bill was way over what we expected to pay for that quality of food and service and we were still charged a wrong price for a bottle of wine. The space is beautiful indeed and super special, but as a restaurant it was disappointed.
Overpriced! Overrated! Avoid!

Staying at Number Sixteen was a true delight in every way. The location is ideal and you feel like a local stepping out of their beautiful townhouse in a neighborhood versus business district. The rooms are beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. Their outdoor courtyard is a magical secret garden and the perfect place for a cup of tea or a late night brandy. And the staff is exceptional, always greeting you with a warm smile and genuine desire to make your stay perfect. My daughter and I felt as if we were staying at the home of a dear friend versus a hotel in the big city. We were charmed and will be back! Thank you Number Sixteen team for creating a magical oasis.
