SAINT PANCRAS RENAISSANCE

★Where is WiFi?
The location is excellent. It is also one station to Paris."The room was small, but I thought it was good because it was a historic building."However, the WiFi was not connected, so I used the portable WiFi I brought with me.
- The wifi does not work. Not acceptable for a hotel room at that price (420 pounds) when you are on a business trip.
- The television does not work
- The staff is completely impersonnel. The clients are not human beings but credit cards
To start with pros, the room was great: It was spacious and clean, and very quiet at night so I had good nights' sleep (I specifically asked for a quiet room). And it's conveniently located next to King's cross.
The service and maintenance was very lacking, however.
I got there after a long sleepless 10+ hr flight at 1:30 PM, and they turned me away to come back at 3 PM. Which is understandable given the policy, but most other hotels would have let you check in. The kick was, when I came back at 3, they had me wait for another ~40 min because the room wasn't ready. It sucked even more because there wasn't much room to wait comfortably at the lobby because 99% of the space was occupied by restaurants. There was literally 1 really uncomfortable sofa to sit in, if you're not a restaurant guest. The female staff who was supposed to check me in mysteriously disappeared after I was waiting for ~20 min, but the staff who took over was very courteous.
The housekeeping wasn't thorough. They didn't do a good job cleaning the bathtub and somehow decided to skip the complimentary biscuits for the last 2 days.
When I asked for a yoga mat, the room service rudely answered "Ooh, I don't think we have any available in the building'. When I asked whether they can check, they said they'd check and deliver it to me if there was any. To a surprise to no one, no yoga mat was ever delivered to my room.
The TV was non-operational for the half of the stay because of wi-fi issues, and the staff wasn't apologetic about it either.
The lifts and the lobby corridor smelt like rubbish bins, and there are no separate lifts for contractors or staff.
Overall, the room and the location was great, but there are many better 5 star hotels in London than this.
We had a great time exploring the vast halls and famous staircases, having a drink in the chambers bar. Everywhere was quiet and comfortable.
