If you plan on spending time in Venice, do not book this hotel. This hotel is for people that want to just stay AT the hotel and enjoy the expensive luxury. To get to the hotel is quite the maze through Venice just to get to the point where the hotel’s free water taxi takes you to the island where it’s located (which I had to Google to learn how to get to the hotel). Our check in experience was hectic as the one poor guy that was tagging each travelers luggage insisted on having our luggage brought to the room. During this process, the phone kept ringing and he was the only one there to answer. It was raining and we were sopping wet from arrival and just wanted to have a shower and change into new and dry clothes. However, it’s been an hour since check in and we are still waiting for our luggage. Stay in Venice where you will be close to the things you’ll want to do and see.

Set your expectations to expensive. You are on an island with just a shuttle boat or taxi boat to get you of there. As an example: we wanted some ice to our room. We could not pick that up our selves, they had to send 2 guys from room service and charged us 28 euros. It’s a really nice looking place but the fact that they milk you for money at every turn is very of putting. Another example: they charged us 200 euros extra per day at checkin as a “if we break something fee”. They fully expect you to spend that on their island, and you will. They pump the reception full of perfume so you almost faint. Very inflexible, we wanted to eat out side to watch the sun set on the roof terrace. That was not allowed by the restaurant manager. The cleaner also threw away some clothes for us.

Venice is a complicated place to visit. But staying at the JW Marriot Venice makes it more difficult. So we booked thinking it was close to Venice, it’s not. You arrive by shuttle, we paid 100€ to get there. Once we got there we realized that you need a shuttle to go to Venice. It comes out every 30min. So you’re dependent on it schedule: The feel is nothing like a Venetian feel. It’s modern and you feel like a fancy Alcatraz. People are nice, but it doesn’t make sense to pay so much money to be 20 min away by boat. Might as well stay in the Veneto region. The first day, we were stranded and people waited for over 3 hours just to get back. We go frustrated and had to pay 100€ to get back in a private taxi. The rooms are ok, a bit old the shower is a handle, we paid over $€1200 a night which seemed an excessive price for what it is. I would not pay more than $200 and not even that because it’s like being in a cruise ship . We spend the night frozen, when we called the technician he came and told us it didn't work. We called the receptionist and she told us that’s how they operate at this time, no HEATING. What?? It’s been a very sad experience spending all this $$ and time and effort to come to Venice and getting this. You loose most of your day going back and forth in the shuttle, when you could be watching something historical or just sitting there watching the beautiful scenery at the plaza. We have a high status’s with Marriot and Amex and they couldn’t event get. room with a king size, when we asked for our usual upgrade they said if we wanted a king size bed we needed to downgrade.. Decoration was done like in the 90s. Place to us was not worth it, nor the price.

Gorgeous property, truly amazing. Convenient water taxi shuttle every 30 minutes. Lovely and friendly staff. For a 5 star property at that cost, toiletries get poorly replenished, toilet seats are not soft closing so if this is what you are used to, be mindful of the clapping. Breakfast is good, not amazing, the whole middle hot buffet section is a hit or miss, u should be there early as it does not really get adequately replenished for such a large hotel, at times almost empty oily dishes- food gone. The cold buffet is serviced better. we would definitely stay there again, these r little things compared to the overall experience. Gem of a place if you have kids!

I chose this hotel for my engagement trip - looked like a nice spot while searching for stays. Did not know what to expect and you won’t appreciate the place until you get there. Don’t take lightly that you are on a legit island away from the city. It was nice to have a change of scenery and bask in the vibes. I enjoyed my swim up but in March it was too cold to use. The room I had was amazing and just feel so clean and sharp. The food never missed at either of the restaurants. The staff are nice and make the stay more enjoyable. You also get the free shuttles through most of the day that you’ll definitely use. Advice: plan your trip accordingly with the understanding that you have to use the public shuttle or pay ???? of a private water taxi. I’d stay here again in the summer and thanks Yuri who was the best bartender ever!

Super letdown. This place does not deserve the JW distinction. We stayed there in June 2022 and it was a horrible experience.
Upon check-in they gave us a handicapped room (neither of us are handicapped) which was fine, we’d just deal with it for three days. The problems with the room far outweighed “dealing with it”. The room was very hot and didn’t cool down after an hour. It didn’t cool because the air conditioning was broken. The in room “cooler” aka room fridge was not working either. It was hot all around and miserable. Our view was a parking lot-no garden view which is what we booked.
I requested another room and was given the runaround for over four and a half hours and was treated disrespectfully by the manager. He argued with me about the air conditioning and the cooler not working. He said it was working and that he had sent a maintenance person to check it. The maintenance person came and said if it didn’t cool in 30 minutes to call the front desk and get a replacement. We waited an hour and it still was not working. Now, this whole situation has escalated to ridiculousness.
I had to be super persistent with him and finally got another room which was notably cooler upon entrance and the “cooler” worked as well. It was obvious the other room was crap. The hotel person who escorted us to the new room agreed it was notably cooler.
None of the ice machines worked on any of the floors. It was a nightmare to get a bucket of ice. One of the main elevators was not working and made a screeching sound for days. It was a safety hazard, no information about it being broken was ever posted. It was broken the entire time we were there.
The airport shuttle is only from the airport to the resort. Going back to the airport will cost you $125-200 depending on the time.
Hotel was dirty, bathroom commode and bidet were cracked. The exterior of the hotel had mold. Landscaping was not maintained. The food was barely palpable. I have never stayed at a Marriott property that was as horrendous as this one. We were hoping this place would cap off a wonderful three week European vacation, but it failed miserably in every category.
Save your time and money and stay in Venice. I also filed a complaint with Marriott directly but they never followed up.

I like Marriott. The plus is that you’ll find it closer to US standards than European (size of the room, extra comfy bed, etc…). The minus is that you’re on an island (it’s a plus but… if you want to visit, rest at the hotel and visit again, it’s a minus)

puro relax. per rigenerarsi. ristorante rooftop da premiare assolutamente come il personale. peccato che la gestione dell’isola veneziana e la temperatura nelle zone comuni siano americane. escluso dal pagamento solo l’ossigeno.

This stay was not optimal. The first part was on us. This hotel is much farther out than we expected. Our bad. The first night we got there we felt like it was too late to head out for dinner elsewhere and I really wanted a salad. I got a chicken salad from the pool restaurant and my third bite in I realized the chicken was raw in the middle. Once I realized they I told them and they comped it but stated “it’s premade and brought to us in these bags”. They let management know and the chef at the lobby restaurant came out and was super kind and comped us a different meal. Unfortunately my evening did not go well. Around three in the morning the vomiting and everything else began. We had scheduled two private tours through the hotel for the following morning, which fortunately I made it through but did not feel my best, which was a bummer. The other issue was the air conditioning in the room not working barely at all. They did their laser thing as usual but, simply put, the minimal output could not keep up with the room temp and it was a hot and uncomfortable sleep. The positives only go to the majority of the staff being friendly and those tours they set up were actually really good with a local. I would not come back.

Wir waren am Wochenende hier bzw. drei Nächte übernachtet. Perfekte 5 Stern Hotel! Das Zimmer ist sauber und groß genug. Super Aussicht auf die Stadt, leider ist es etwas durch Nebenbei gestört gewesen. Das Frühstück ist für italienischen Verhältnisse sehr gut! Natürlich einige Getränke sind bei der Bar teure,aber dafür ist es Luxus Hotel,damit muss man rechnen. Gerne wieder!
