This really wasn't a huge deal at all or made an impact on my experience but it was quite a shock to hear that. But it was fine, not really a big deal and it should not be a big deal if you want to book with them.
Service was super fast and extremely easy. They rent out these wifi boxes for $100 and it was worth every cent I paid. Completely a life saver. Only problem was the charger it came with didn't work- but thankfully I had a charger like that I brought by mistake. It died fast so we just kept it plugged in 24/7.
The car was amazing and great. Best car we could have gotten for this trip.
Will definitely be booking with them when I come back to Iceland.
The damage honestly cannot be assessed by my eye, i.e. a paint that would no longer be uniform due to contact with sand. I don't know what impact this "damage" will have on their future rentals, certainly not an aesthetic issue given that the car was already delivered with abundant scratches (or potential asymmetries in driving in the event of strong side winds given that the car was delivered already with the side bumper smashed).
The renter demanded immediate payment of 400,000 ISK and threatened not to take us to the airport. Since time was tight to take the flight, I paid 150000 ISK. After 2 weeks, back home, I have had the despicable surprise f additional 400000 ISK charged on my card. Robbers!
We called and emailed them in a travel, they responded very quickly.
The reception is ice-cold from the start. The receptionist (a blonde with curly hair) is incredibly rude, rejects our CREDIT card without explanation, barely answers our questions, and pressures us into purchasing additional insurance on top of ours using guilt-tripping tactics (special mention for their PowerPoint, which is very convincing when it comes to scaring customers and selling their package).
The real scam happens upon return, when dropping off the car at 4 a.m. in total darkness. The attendant inspects the car with a flashlight and finds a 1mm "gap" on the door frame. This insignificant detail, impossible to notice during check-in, costs us our €2,000 deposit. We’re accused of being careless with the wind gusts. It’s impossible to argue: we’re wrongfully blamed for damage we didn’t cause, despite taking great care of the car throughout our trip.
The customer service is appalling: responses are nonexistent or delayed unless you threaten legal action. In the end, €3,000 charged to our insurance for a door hinge (compare that to the actual cost of a Dacia Duster hinge online, and you’ll see the scam).
In summary: AVOID. If I could give zero stars, it would be well-deserved!
