I’m late in leaving this review and am doing so because my husband left a review when we visited in May 2022 and he was just contacted by a lawyer of Schloss Elmau to remove his review because they deem it to be ‘fake’. This is absolutely not the case and it is horrendous to see this accusation. Just because the review was not good enough for them and Schloss Elmau clearly didn’t like it, it is not ok to accuse my husband of being a fake person and ask for it to be removed. I stand by the review.

After responding to say they didn’t delete reviews they just tried to have my review removed by google.

Why we went: the publicity around the G7 summit.
Was it worth it? not really. Although we had a nice experience, we can't recommend at this price point Let me explain:

my wife and I have vacationed in several 5 star superior ski hotels in Austria which gives us a direct comparison. In Austria you can get more (better food - included in the price, newer rooms) and the same (good service, SPA and facilities) for the same price or for less.

Pro: Good and consistent service, great pool areas, location (the Schloss is in the middle on nowhere - the only other hotel similar in that sense we know would be Interaplen in Tyrol) the saunas are nice, however, the Aufguss was weak and nudity is not enforced even in the nude areas. ok rooms, ok food. activities on offer are great and we enjoyed the hike with an experienced hunter as well as the e MTB ride.

Cons: Simply the price. The breakfast for instance had a rather poor selection in comparison to hotels of similar standards in Austria. the dinner cheese selection as visible in the pictures is not even a third of that offered at Salzburger Hof, Arosa Kitzbuehel or Interalpen. Also, out of the dinners we had at the hotel some of the dishes were bland and boring.
the rooms and decoration is rather dated. We don't really like the indian decoration, but that's a matter of taste, however, the Installation as a whole is not the newest.

My take is that the hotel can charge the rates it charges simply because there are enough foreign tourists who come because of the G7 fame and are insensitive to prices or have no direct comparison.

Beware if you are not satisfied with your stay and leave a negative review, the hotel will have you contacted through a lawyer in an attempt to have your review deleted. Likely the current 4.6/5 star rating is highly skewed due to the systematic deletion of negative reviews. I am attaching a proof of stay, my family’s original review and the threatening email in German.
I cannot recommend an establishment that conducts business in such a way. Go spend your money in other 5 star superior hotels which provide better service and food for less money (Forsthofgut, Interalpen Hotel, Arosa Kitzbuehel, Salzburger Hof, to name a few)

Sehr teuer, aber ist das Geld wert, wenn nur das Essen nicht so schlecht wäre!

Kommentar: Der Rechtsanwalt Axel Mikus hat anscheinend vom Management des Hotels das Mandat bekommen Bewertungen löschen zu lassen. Deswegen habe ich meine Bewertung noch mal geschrieben, denn so lange das Verfahren bei Google läuft, ist die Bewertung draußen.

Ich persönlich finde es nicht schön, dass Hotels ihre Durchschnittsbewertungen nach oben manipulieren indem sie schlechte Bewertungen löschen lassen, insbesondere als Stammkunde der mit Familie in diesem Hotel schon insgesamt ca. 20 Übernachtungen verbracht hat.

Lieber Herr Müller-Elmau: Wenn Sie wirklich möchten, dass schlechte Bewertungen gelöscht oder korrigiert werden (ist eine *** Bewertung so schlecht?), dann melden Sie sich doch am besten via Google bei den Leuten und bieten Kommunikation an. Wäre ich Hotelier, würde ich solche Aussagen ernst nehmen. Die gekünstelten meist zu stark gesalzenen Türmchen und Schäumchen zum Abendessen nerven wirklich sehr. Das Büffet im Frühstücksrestaurant schmeckt nicht und Essen selber holen ist nicht so mein Ding, auch wenn die Wege nicht weit sind.

Wenn man den ganzen Tag draußen war, dann ist einfaches Essen oft angenehmer als aufdringliches Ess-Theater. Muss Sushi in der Fritteuse verhunzt werden bloß damit es noch verrückter aussieht?

Ein absolut tolles Hotel mit tollem Ambiente und Service,wir waren mittlerweile 3x dort und können es uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

P.S. Beim durchscrollen des Profils bin ich vormals wohl auf die 1 Stern Bewertung gekommen.

Excellently located retreat with great views, spas, and activity options. Also hosts regular live music concerts and has a number of restaurants to choose from. Staff all very kind and helpful, and rooms are fantastic. Lots of hikes and walks to be done in the surrounding areas too. Food at the restaurants is expensive for what it is (if not dining at the Michelin star Luce d’oro), but breakfast is included in booking.

Ein hervorragendes Hotel in toller Lage mit schönem Blick auf die Berge.
Das ganze Hotel, Zimmer, Restaurants, Bars, Wellness und vor allem die Mitarbeiter sind fantastisch.
Der schöne Wellnessbereich lädt zum Wohlfühlen und Entspannen ein. Der Pool/Whirlpool, Sauna, Spa, Fitnessbereich alles großartig.
Das Personal ist hervorragend und der Service exzellent. Alle Mitarbeiter sind so unglaublich freundlich, hilfsbereit und höflich. Jeder Wunsch wird einem förmlich von den Augen abgelesen.
Alles war wieder einmal perfekt in diesem traditionsreichen Hotel. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder. Sehr empfehlenswert.

I took my mom for a 3-day trip to Schloss Elmau and we had the most wonderful time. The property is beautiful, the service, the food, the amenities are all faultless. A special thanks to Edyk who was so attentive and helpful with recommendations for hikes and things to do. I hope to be able to return soon.

Beeindruckendes Hotel mit extrem vielen Nebenräumen. Hier gibt es Konzertsäle, Veranstaltungsräume, Spa, und vieles mehr. Ein sehr imposantes Gebäude mit Schloss Charakter. Komplett in der Einsamkeit. Ich persönlich finde das Hotel sehr schön den Service sehr freundlich und die Zimmer modern. Dieses Hotel ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.
