Breaking down the review.
THE GOOD:
Landscaping is generous. The facade of the building and the rest of the compound is very pretty and picturesque. Guests can probably utilize the facilities for events such as weddings and other life activities.
Other noteworthy things are;
- The Indian butler was friendly and helpful.
- The room has a nice view of the outside.
- The breakfast attendants in two occasions we were there were warm and welcoming.
- Decent first breakfast but the second one was so so.
THE BAD:
However, the beauty of this place is just that, only the facade. The figurative cracks have started to show real quick. The The receptionist who checked us in wasn’t very friendly and was just doing the bare minimum. It all goes downhill from there as when we saw the room as it needs a badly required upkeep.
- we found that the toilet lights weren’t working,
- the rugs on the floor felt old (though it probably has a long history so props to that) but i think it needs replacing or at least to be put on a frame if this is very important.
- pillows they provide are made of hard foam which gets uncomfortable after some time
- there were also mosquitoes in the evening i believe this is due to the windows being opened when the rooms are not occupied.
- The pool is not temperature controlled so it was cold even during summer.
THE UGLY:
The very defensive manager.
It rained the whole Friday during our second day. We were driving around a different town but when we arrived in the evening, No one was in the reception to assist us by lending us umbrellas or explain to us what was going on. We felt like the staff had completely abandoned the hotel and left the guests on their own. As it turned out there was a state of emergency in the region and the power has been cut. Along with the power, they also cut off the water supply. It was a horrible evening.
The hotel doesn’t know how to handle such an emergency situation. They could have:
- assigned a person to assist the guests who didnt know what to do or whats going on.
- Have emergency power backup. I mean this is not a cheap small hotel. Yet they have failed to invest in emergency power generator.
- Due to power cut, the breakfast staff couldn’t make coffee nor make warm breakfast - this is fine and truly acceptable. However, when we raised the power and water cuts, the manager replied very defensively and spew inaccurate accounts of that had happened. The manager claimed that they served us warm meals and coffee despite the fact. An act you could only expect from an amateur hotel owner. I wish the hotel manager is at least aware of what is going on with the property they are managing.
- Own to their lack of organization and preparedness instead of being defensive when a complain is received.
OVERALL:
Very bad experience. This hotel is only worthy of a day trip like a museum and should be treated it as such.
To the manager, please learn again how to manage a hotel as you arent doing a barely acceptable job.
