Avis AUBERGE LE LOUIS-HEBERT

I’ve been to a LOT of hostels in my life and here’s my review of this one. I’ve only spent 2 nights there.

Pros: Really comfy beds. Downstairs smells like incense and dirty couches but upstairs the rooms, washrooms and showers are very clean. Great space to lock your luggage, big cage under the bunk bed. Big kitchen with everything you need. I have not used the bar and other common areas so can’t say much about it. Great location.

Cons: Very loud music until late (I can sleep through anything but if you’re a light sleeper, not sure how to put it better than saying you can clearly hear even the lyrics of the songs from your bed). Can’t sit on the bed - if you wanna chill you gotta lay down, the bed is way too low to sit. Creepy stairs with poor lighting, no elevator - not suitable for anybody with accessibility issues, incense in the reception - sorry I’ve never seen this before in a hostel and thought was pretty gross - very strong scent.

Overall it’s ok.

Auberge pleine de vie, de très bonnes rencontres, et un personnel au top.

Je suis arrivé seul pour la première de ma vie a Québec et j'ai séjourné deux semaines dans cette auberge j'ai été directement bien accueilli part les montres de l'équipe et surtout part les autre occupants de l'auberge. L'auberge est très chaleureuse et très jolie même si je suis grand les lits en dortoir était a ma taille et confortable.
N'hésiter vraiment pas a y aller conseil de belge ????

Parfaitement située, elle est topissime de par ses chambres, les services proposées et les infrastructures!
Salle de jeux, cuisine, buanderie, salle de cinéma, coin calme avec hamacs, bibliothèque avec filet suspendu, bar, terrasse…
Les sanitaires sont parfaits aussi
Le personnel est d’une gentillesse incroyable!
Notre tribu a adoré cette ambiance!
Je recommande pour un logement top fun et à petit prix!

best hotel as a low star. When we go outsiede, theres alot of restaurent. and behind it theres the plains.

Vous connaissez le mot "Arnaque"? Et bien c'est le bon attribut pour cet hôtel. Il bénéficie du fait d'être au centre ville de Québec. Mais pour ma propre expérience, voici ce que j'ai vécu avec ma famille: pas d'eau pour prendre une douche (arrivée d'eau coupée à cause du bruit monstrueux qui s'en suit), cheveux et miettes dans le lit, taches d'humidité sur les murs, grosse épaisseur de poussière par terre et sous les lits, prises électriques non fonctionnelles. Je ne vous vous le recommande pas, même pas pour un touriste.

Good facilities - lots of showers and chill areas, even a gym and movie room. Clean, but not sure how often the bed/pillows themselves get a clean as we had to put new sheets and pillow cases on at check in. the service was lacklustre and overall just okay.

Je recommande. Cette auberge est très bien placée, le quartier est très sympa. Il y a des nombreux espaces communs, bien équipés. Vous pourrez facilement rencontrer des gens si vous voyagez seul. Les salles de bains et chambres sont propres.
Le seul bémol est que les lits ne sont pas très spacieux : même en étant petit vous ne tiendrez pas assis dans le lit. Sinon bien équipés de rideaux et casiers.

Nice clean hostel. Love the reading room/the lazy forest, so nice to have a space to relax! Bunks are enclosed which is cozy but hard to get into. Thanks for the stay!

Éviter la chambre au rez-de-chaussée sans fenêtres... vraiment, je ne comprends toujours pas comment on peut louer une chambres sans ouvertures. Pas cher mais vraiment très ordinaire. Super bien placé sur la Grande Allée mais c'est vraiment le seul avantage.

Accueil très décevant! Le formulaire à remplir lors de l'inscription nous a été communiqué seulement en anglais et lorsque nous avons demandé (poliment) si nous pouvions en avoir un en français, la dame à la réception nous a répondu non, comme si nous l'avions insultée. Nous sommes restés deux nuitée et personne n'est venu faire notre chambre. Le site web ne reflète pas la vétusté des lieux.

Chambre sale, climatisation et chauffage inadéquat, semble ne pas recevoir d'entretien. Je ne le conseille pas et n'y retournerai plus. Seul point positif, la personne à l'accueil a été sympathique.

A aimé · Belle maison, beau décor, endroit très calme, grande chambre avec toutes les commodités, lit très confortable, bonne pression dans la douche, bon accès wi-fi, accès à Netflix.

N'a pas aimé · Aucun accueil (j'étais toute seule dans toute la bâtisse jusqu'à ce qu'une autre chambreuse arrive le lendemain soir), stationnement pas déneigé et personne n'est venu m'assister quand ma voiture est restée coincée dans la neige dans la ruelle (je voulais juste une pelle et l'homme qui m'a répondu semblait difficilement comprendre le français et était incompréhensible quand il parlait), je n'ai pas pu déjeuner sur place alors que j'aurais voulu, car personne n'y était, insecte dans la baignoire, très froid dans la chambre (j'ai dû monter le thermostat), escalier non déneigé.

Exceptional hotel! Our room was modern, clean, quiet and very comfortable. Manager, Norman, and his staff are clearly focused on customer service. Best ever! The Restaurant Ophelia was so good we didn't want to go anywhere else. Filet/steaks and fish dishes were great, all with outstanding service. The best hotel experience we've had in more than 25 years.

A Gem in Old Quebec

Hotel Ophelia is a gem in the heart of Old Quebec but away from the busy, noisy, main touristy areas. The location is within walking distance to the funicular that brings you to the lower part of the city where the best restaurants like L’Orygene and Légende are located. If you walk west on Grand Allee, it will take you to the Musée des Beaux Arts in 10 minutes. Grand Allee is a beautiful, quiet tree-lined avenue.

The hotel was converted from a century-old home of a Québécois painter and consists of 6 rooms only (3 suites and 3 rooms) on three floors. There are no elevators but the hotel’s front desk staff will help you carry all luggage.

The minimalist rooms are very charming and quiet with double glazed windows. I like the hard wood floors, the firm bed, and the charming decor. Top marks go to the very hi-tech spacious bathroom with a smart toilet featuring automated and personalized controls over various functions such as the flow of the flush, the bidet, the cover, and the heated toilet seat if desired.

The hotel has 1 restaurant and 1 bar flanking on either side and they are managed by the same hotel. Ophelia Restaurant is famous for its food and it does not disappoint. Make sure you don’t miss the chocolate dome as dessert if you eat there.

I like the 5-star amenities that come with the room including the bathrobe, slippers, safe, free bottled water and a mini-fridge with select complimentary non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.

My couple friends’ suite was upgraded to the Presidential Suite which is in a class of its own with a spacious living room.

General Manager Normand was most accommodating during our stay there giving us welcome drinks and went above and beyond to meet all our needs. All the other front desk staff (different person every day) were young, friendly and helpful. I locked myself in one night at around 10:30 pm and one of the restaurant staff helped me access my room with his master key.

I’m giving the hotel 4.5 stars instead of 5 only because they have recently stopped serving breakfast at Ophelia Restaurant due to a labour shortage in the kitchen - a universal problem shared by the entire country. As a result, we had to go to a new all-day breakfast restaurant called Au Petit Chalet 2 doors away. Unfortunately the food quality and service there were sub-standard if you want a hot breakfast. They managed to meet my needs because I only want a fresh fruit bowl, coffee and a glass of almond milk. I’m confident that should breakfast service resume in Ophelia Restaurant, hotel guests will be able to start their day in a much nicer way with a sumptuous, tasty hot breakfast. The hotel could offer room service but I’d prefer not to have any smell of food in my room and, therefore, did not take that option.

All in all, my friends and I were very happy with our stay and would certainly go back to this hotel should we visit Quebec City again. My heartfelt thanks to Normand and his staff for the hospitality throughout our stay!

Very good location, the street is full of breweries and restaurants and is a super short walk to the old port and the massive park area. The room was also nice but the beds were a little old. I still definitely reccomend it

Très belle chambre technologique, personnels Très sympathique et accueillant.

Le service était impeccable. L'accueil était très chaleureux et sympathique. Les chambres sont à en couper le souffle. L'emplacement est aussi extraordinaire. L'expérience était inoubliable et à refaire définitivement. Si vous hésitiez à y aller, ceci est un message pour vous dire de vous y lancer et d'essayer ce magnifique hotel boutique.

Emplacement de choix, vous pouvez faire la vielle ville et les restaurants à pied. Chambres spacieuses, dans un style ancien revisité, avec climatisation heureusement. Attention escalier pour y accéder pas très pratique pour les valises. Petit déjeuner frais et préparé minute. Une très bonne adresse pour visiter le vieux Québec.

Un peu vieillot mais c'est une belle maison ! (qui mérite une rénovation )
On a pu avoir une place de parking (20$ / nuit) mais super bien situé
Le seul souci est le personnel qui ne parle presque pas français et difficile de communiquer en anglais... dommage pour la qualité du service à l'arrivée et au petit déjeuner

We stayed two nights, and it was perfect for our needs. It's a great spot! We were able to walk to restaurants and sites.
