Quel souvenir. C'est plus qu'une simple dégustation !! C'est une expérience inoubliable. La visite des caves improvisée ! Je recommande vivement !
Visiting a champagne domain in the Aube has been on my whish list for a long time and Drappier is rock solid when it comes to quality and reputation. We had a great tour and impressive tasting afterwards. Our guide mastered his stuff, so different from the marketing storytelling you experience when visiting life style "brands" in Epernay or Reims. During the tasting we were joined by the founder -André Drappier- 97 years young, a memorable moment.
We couldn’t ask for a better tour. We had the overseas export director, Milo, show us around the cellars. Despite him only being in place 10 days his knowledge and English were truly amazing. The tour lasted well over the advertised 45mins. Highlights included, the 12 century cellar, the special egg cask that only Drappier champagne uses, and the worlds biggest champagne bottle. Plus learning about their family and their ethical and environmental production.
The tasting was amazing we had way more than the advertised 3 champagnes and every single one was top class. We had taken a Bollinger for our actual anniversary and this champagne was so much better. It was more natural. We had done a couple of tastings on our holiday and usually bought a token bottle out of politeness, but we walked out of this tour with 12 bottles of 4 different champagnes that we tasted, costing over £400.
However, this was not the highlight, the highlight was we got to meet 2 generations of the Drappier family including the current owner Michel, who couldn’t of been nicer. It was also nice to know Michel’s father still takes an active role in the business at 97 years old.
If you can only do one tour please do this one you will not be disappointed
Visite très intéressante faite par un passionné.
Champagne de qualité excellente.
