No real reception, barely spoke English when we checked in. We were promised bikes for free use in the welcome material present in the room, but it turned out that you could only hire them through an external agency for almost 100€ for 2 people for 1 day. Very disappointed about that since we chose this hotel to be able to drink wine and go into Saint-Emilion and back one day.
There was no service at the pool. We ordered 2 glasses of wine that never came after we waited 30 mins. It was at lunch time and it seemed like they were understaffed, and prioritised external customers instead of hotel guests.
Also breakfast very basic and boring. Nothing special. Our room was on the other side of the road, a bit of a walk from the pool and breakfast area.
All in all I would not recommend this hotel, and especially not if you have to pay 300 €/night. We were offered 90€ in compensation, but I haven’t received them yet, I fell lucky if I get them.
The overall feeling is that this hotel is bad managed and that they need several more employees. I must say that the younger female employee tried what she could, but told us all decisions should be taken from the management level. Not great when the management is not present everyday at the hotel.
Lobby/reception: this hotel has no common areas to enjoy. You are either in your room or by the pool. That is all. So you have no other facilities to enjoy. The reception is never staffed, we were here 4 nights and never saw a soul at the reception.
Gym: Very minimally equipped. No weights no weight lifting, machines are broken and not working ( rowing machine ), tv on wall not working.
Breakfast buffet: for 25 euros per person you get a self service assortment with nothing special. No made to order eggs or omelettes, but instead some scrambled egg powder mix. A few croissants, meats, cheese, yogurt, etc but is missing the special treatment. Coffee machines are broken and not all working so big line during breakfast rush hour. We struggled to get a 6 minute egg, got a 15 minute hard boiled egg instead. Not expecting the world for 25 euros but a few things the way we want them, specially when we are paying 100 euros for breakfast for 4 people!!! This is absolutely overpriced, go instead to the local bakery 100 meters away and have a croissant and coffee for 3 euros.
Charging Stations: it is great to see 4 electric charging stations were offered for your EV, unfortunately all 4 were not in working order.
Grounds: split layout, half of the rooms are on one side of the street and the other by the church. So just be aware to the pool or breakfast, you have to cross the road.
Spa: there is no sauna although advertised. Not much of a spa, offering massages does not make it a SPA.
I think we would be far more positive about this place if it was called a 3 star hotel. When they pretend to be a 4 star place, it comes with certain expectations… it is not a 4 star hotel.
Lastly, manager was somewhat defensive when asked about certain issues. Customer service and friendliness not to the expected 4 star level.
