We arrived just after 10pm, navigated the parking, a great bonus but definitely a tricky entrance and departure.
There are some awesome aspects to the hotel; the lobby is like an homage to the Dutch CoBrA movement. It’s a very spacious, airy, really interesting design, with a notable staircase and open plan layout, like a contemporary art museum.
The room we were given was spacious and very clean…. But then that’s where the creepy, weirdness kicked in.
So, the weird… we arrived in our room, were happy with usual high standard of Ibis Styles cleanliness, and then opened the curtains to see the view.
Our windows looked out over a large empty room.
It was quite possibly the creepiest, least expected view.
If we had opened our windows, they would have opened up into a bizarre closed up room.
Needless to say, I asked about the curiously odd closed room at reception, but was told it was a safety feature.
Confused, we went to bed, feeling incredibly perplexed and a little spooked. Neither of us slept well.
The hotel also seemed spookily empty with very few guests. I’m confused why we weren’t offered an alternative after questioning the strange room.
If you like peculiar and creepy, try it out. Ask for room 114 ????
