On a adoré !
A bon entendeur!!
The ambiance is nicely decorated, but could definitely benefit from some upkeep as the tablecloths weren't clean (there were some dried up rice stuck to it) and the floors were sticky. We were the first group to arrive around 7:30pm on a Sunday, and ordered from their set menu. The starters - salade exotique (salad with shrimp, mango, pineapple) and taboule senegalais (couscous salad with seafood) arrived relatively quickly. Flavours were nice and the dishes were refreshing and light. We then had to wait half an hour for our mains, and one of them was missing. When we asked the owner, he realized he had forgotten about it and brought it out in another 10-15 min. The mains were good though, big portions of rice and sauces were tasty. Simple ingredients but great flavours. Fish was fried perfectly. The quantity of meat is on the smaller side though and I found the beef a bit dry. We then had to remind the owner about the desserts as those were forgotten as well. The pineapples were freshly cut but I would skip the profiteroles as those are clearly store bought.
Overall, good food at decent prices, but the service is very slow with multiple forgotten orders. The restaurant is run by only one gentleman (who I will say is very kind) who does all the serving and cooking, which leads to a long meal time. There were only five tables (all with five people or less) but our dinner took over 2.5 hours.
Service can be a bit slow, with only one gentleman working both the front and back of the house when we visited on a Sunday evening. Also, you should not be expecting anything fancy or elevated here. Just the basics done well and authentically.
