The pool was closed and the person at the gym desk told me it was closed for chemical issues and neglected to mention it was possible to use the Westin. He also gave the impression that it would be open soon. When I was checking out I asked at the front desk about it because I only booked the hotel for the pool. She said, "everyone else who wanted to use the pool read the sign and came to ask us." This sounds a lot like it's my fault, doesn't it? And if you don't see the logical fallacy in that, I'm not going to explain it. Anyways, I wasn't too impressed about the communication of the closure or the resolution -- or lack thereof.
Also, you have to take 3 elevators to get to the parking and there isn't really good signage for that either.
Gym is great for a hotel and the rooms were fine except for some inoperable lamps.

Fantastic stay in an iconic suite, view of a beautiful city, room service actually delicious, concierge attentive and helpful. Big city feel with charm.

The Expedia says it has a complimentary airport shuttle but I just got here and it doesn’t. Disappointed as that was my main criteria for booking as I have a super short stay.

Rooms are great- clean, large, nice view, great area. However some of the staff is very standoffish, especially the people who you first interact with (valet, reception). The younger staff were extremely friendly but others made a very poor impression on the hotel. For example Marina at reception was not only unkind to us but I saw her being unfriendly to at least two other groups of guests during our stay.

We chose this property on 2 criteria; 1- proximity to everything downtown and 2- the pool. One nailed it, the other not so much. I have a young son, introducing him to swimming was high on my list. Assuming that the pool would close around 9 to 10pm on weekdays (we were there Easter Friday) but no it closes at 7pm week days and 9pm on weekends. To be a family friendly hotel, you need to have better hours than this for the pool. I wouldn’t recommend for young families. Lastly, the parking that’s attached to the hotel is very confusing. If you miss the elevator button that indicates where you need to get out for the hotel, you’ll be completely lost. This happened to us. We ended up in the atrium behind the hotel, there was no signs anywhere how to find it. Finally someone that worked in the area showed us after going in circles for 15 minutes.

The staff at this hotel made this a great stay. They were all very welcoming, professional, and pleasant. The valet gentleman, for example, gave us lot of great information about the local area and marked out a map for us. The room was immaculately clean, although you could tell the furnishings, etc. are a little dated. The rates are an excellent deal, especially if paying with U.S. dollars. Great location… on edge of historic area and a metro stop under the hotel on Line 2, which gets you to cool neighborhoods easily

We were in Montreal for a business meeting downtown and chose this hotel as they accept pets.
Pros:
First of all , Mariana at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. If not for her, we were going to cancel and not stay due to the fact we were having a lot of problems navigating from the parking garage into the hotel and upon finding out the hotel has no carts to bring the luggage to the room and the valet service is $37 a day we were ready to leave but Mariana showed us the correct elevators to take and was very understanding.
Second, after a fire alarm evacuation at 2 am due to a fire in a heater motor in the 16th floor, when we finally got back into the hotel lobby area, the manager was very kind and was trying to help everyone.
Third, the hotel is attached to the World Trade Center which is very pretty and has a food court ( but closes at 5 pm).
4th. Great view- paid extra for room with a view.
5th. Bed and pillows comfy
6th. Pet welcome bag
Cons:
1. Parking is in an underground garage 10 floors down. You have to find an elevator to go up, then walk across the garage to another door and go up another elevator to get to the hotel, and then you come out and have to find the front desk ( no signage or any directionsto front desk). We got lost and ended up in the food court at first. Plus Self parking is $25 a day.
2. Not kid friendly. Very fancy and seemed more appropriate for weddings or business meetings.
3. No snack/drinks putchasing area
4. Food court in the World Trade Center closes at 5 pm.
5. The front of the hotel is hard to find and you go up escalators to the front desk. ( we came from the parking garage) Lots of walking to get to check in.
6. No pet walking area.
7. Pricing at the restaurant and bar was expensive.
8. Dated bathrooms and none of the usual types of bath gels and lotions like in many other IHG hotels which are on the wall.
9. No carts for luggage.
10. Gym - looked dead and no atmosphere. Dark and dim.
11. Dated bathroom.
We have stayed at many IHG hotels and I feel this hotel is not as family friendly as others. We do appreciate Mariana and the manager and also Oriana at the front desk.

I celebrated a wonderful milestone birthday at Intercontinental Montreal. We upgraded to a premium corner room and enjoyed the space very much. My check in process was very personable and I was welcomed warmly to the property.
The parking at this hotel is not great. Notably, the underground parking is safe but extremely expensive. The check in agent did not let us know we weren't able to access our vehicle once we parked it. We spent $75 for two nights of parking, which you must travel down a minimum of 9 levels. There is minimal signage for the hotel in the underground parking and it made our arrival frustrating.
The room itself was very comforting. We appreciated the warm calming colours, and large windows. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The water pressure and temperature in the bathroom was good as well.
All of the staff were extremely welcoming, and we did enjoy a meal at the restaurant downstairs. I would like to mention Chantal at reception was an absolute gem to speak with.
We did utilise the pool as well. The facilities were clean and quiet. The dry saunas were a nice bonus as well.
Our room had a couple minor issues. We had some burnt out light bulbs which made our stay a little inconvenient (as the rooms are dimly lit as it is). There was a housekeeping kart right outside our door on our first day and we actually needed to squeeze in sideways or constantly move the kart to get in and out of our room. And lastly, the entrance door into our room became broken and our key cards wouldn't work. We had to go down to reception, where a maintenance person came to assist. We stood in the hallway for over half an hour with no apology or compensation.

Lower your expectations if you’re booking this hotel - but you will be pleasantly surprised by some people (only because of who those people are as individuals)
My impression is that the management of this hotel feels too important and preoccupied with KPIs or some other metric or their own career - and not really preoccupied with cultivating the right work culture in the hotel - “a fish rots from the head down”… and this is definitely the case here. The way one treats the employees - they pass it all to your customers…
