DWARAKA THE ROYAL VILLAS * * * *

We arrived on Jan 7th from element hotel, ubud where we stayed for 1 night. Room was not ready and we were served welcome drinks. I requested the front desk to show us the property while we were waiting for our villa. We checked out the spa and my son got a massage there. When the villa was ready, we moved in. Within a few hours of moving in, we found over 5 lizards all over the living room. It really spooked me and I called front desk. Housekeeping took its sweet Tom to show up by which time only 2 were visible, the two kids who arrived caught one and pretended to catch another. When I asked him to show the lizard, he pretended that he did not understand me and left quickly. I had to call him again within 15 min because the lizard he pretended to catch surfaced again. This time he caught it. I told them there were more and they both got angry. They looked and then said that the lizards had gone out through the A/C unit. But the unit does not have an outlet, so that was an outrageous lie. I had to call them again and this time the kids were visibly angry. One of the kids got on phone with front desk and yelled initially and then calmed down and left without even looking at me. I then called the front desk after they left and told them that that the kids were rude and did not really want to catch the lizards. So this time when I called, a new kid showed up. He came with a ladder instead of a broom and he also was fashionably late. The lizard had gone behind A/C unit by the time he arrived. He called others and they told me that they cannot do anything and left. I was very disturbed by the attitude of housekeeping. They need to be trained not to be rude and make fun of customers. That night, all of a sudden there was no water. I called front desk and they told me that engineering was working on some water issue and that there will be no water for a few hours. I would have appreciated a notice of this. Luckily we had all showered but just imagine not having water after a humid day in Bali. |The next day, I called housekeeping again because another 2 lizards were in the living room. This time they came and sprayed around the A/C unit. The next day, i saw another lizard and went to call front desk and realized that our phones were dead. I walked over to front desk to tell them that we need housekeeping and that our phones are dead. The engineering department came quickly and fixed the problem promptly. I needed engineering to come and fix water pressure and they did that also very quickly and efficiently. |I realized that the front door has an opening and it was not closing properly. Engineering fixed that promptly. Housekeeping needs to inform front desk when they see issues like broken door knobs, doors not closing, dead phones etc. They however do not do that. They rush through the cleaning and leave. They do not even check that we need more coffee or sugar packets. |Myself and my daughter used the spa for a head message and it was not good at all. I reported that to front desk and she said okay. She never attempted to understand what the issue was and how they could make it better.|The kitchen staff though is another story. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that food is prepared to your liking. My son had some special requests and they got it right. Overall a good stay but a lot to improve in terms of customer service. The villa is beautiful but better maintenance is needed.

Facilities: There is a shuttle bus from the hotel to the Royal Palace, which runs every hour.Hygiene: Mosquitoes are acceptable during this season, but mosquitoes are unavoidable in open hotels.Environment: The air conditioning in the room is sufficient. That is, all bathrooms have skylights. This mosquito can probably fly in
