THE RHODES HOTEL

My jetted tub did not work. The jets would not provide consistent output and most of the time it was very weak output. It cycled with about one second of high output followed by about 3-4 second of low output, like a cyclic surge. Also the air intake valves didn't work, and the drain stopper was shotty, but whatever. I let them know immediately that it was broken and that I wanted to change rooms. They (the night reception person and their nameless "manager" whom they would periodically call or text, proceeded to try to convince me repeatedly that it was perfectly functional. They refused to let me switch rooms, or even go test the other jetted tub to see if it indeed was the same or different from the broken one. I offered to clean the room I had first, as I had only used the tub and toilet- they refused. I eventually just asked to book the other room in addition to the one with the broken tub. They hemmed and hawed about that too, and eventually agreed. All in all I think I spent about 1.5-2 hours of my evening trying to get a functional tub. I said it was ridiculous and that I didn't understand why they were being so mean about this. When I went to pay for the second room, the night reception person offered me a discount of about 55% and acted like they were being super generous with that. I said again that I thought they should just let me switch rooms but that if they just wanted more money, I would give it to them. They then asked for the keys to the first room, which I declined to provide as I have paid for it until tomorrow.
The second room's tub works fine. I took videos of both tubs and took them to the night reception person and asked if I could get a refund now that I have documented proof that the tub is defective, and they again declined.
The location was bad for me as it is far from Heathrow. But maybe fine if you want to be in Hyde Park.
The rooms other than the broken tub are actually fine too. Pretty cute. High ceilings and old-worldy. One had s fun little terrace with a table. The other had a big window that opens- not something you get in a lot of new places. Both seem clean enough and no sign of bed bugs lol
If they had been decent about the broken tub, or if the tub want broken, their rating from me would be much higher.
But they are mean and spiteful for no reason. Not kind or ethical at all. I don't recommend going there for that reason. If something goes wrong, they will not help you or make it right.
