They advertise a games room but this was no longer open, bicycles were offered but only to French holiday makers.
Their dog howled most nights when it was left alone and when I mention this I was told via Google translate that “she has got to learn to be left” sometimes howling until 1am poor thing.
The back door lock was difficult to lock and was easily opened from the outside. There is no opening window of the downstairs bedroom which in 35+ degree heat was stifling.
The place is full of flies so had to make sure everything was covered up.
We cleaned both accommodations before we left but we did accidentally leave some unopened beer bottles in the fridge and a piece of equipment that we used for the bed. My husband had a blister on his heel which burst in the night so I stripped the sheet and protector and washed it. The stain came out and it was taken from the washing line by the owner and left in our accommodation when we went out to dinner. I didn’t like that they should just go in when we were not there. However my point is that she saw the clean sheet etc.so it was clear the stain had come out in the wash. On our last night the blister burst again despite there being a dressing on it and stained the sheets. I did not have time to wash these so left them by the machine as requested.
The garden table was damaged by a storm when the umbrella was in place. I told them we had not used the garden area at all during our stay.
On Sunday 21st August I received an email saying they were not going to refund all of my €200 deposit because we left both properties in an “excessively dirty state” and spent 13 hours cleaning both gites!
I strongly believe this is part of a ploy to make extra money from guests. We did not take pictures of the property as we left which with hindsight we should have done. We believed these people although not particularly welcoming would be honourable.
If you do choose to stay here this is my advice
1) beware the cheap furniture the legs splay out risking an accident
2) it is not suitable for disabled guests other than the ground floor wet room
3) take ear plugs for the dog howling
4) be careful with the shower temperature
5) take extra chairs for lounge as only 3 comfortable seats in both gites
6) have a good translation app as you will need it
7) make sure you clean the place within an inch of its life or you will be deducted for “ extra cleaning”
Good luck if you do go. The location is lovely.
