Accueil formidable, ambiance familiale.

A rénover

A eviter

The coziest little hotel. The staff was absolutely lovely. Will stay again.

The Hotel Acapulco comprises three floors of what were the servant's quarters in a beautiful bourgeois house well located near central Montpellier. It is about three minutes away from tramway line #1, and you can get to the train station and the universities in ten minutes or less on the tram. if you remember the maid's rooms in Downton Abbey then you will have a very good notion of what the rooms are like ; you climb up a narrow stairway (no elevator) to find sparkling clean, relatively roomy and airy for cheap (or even not so cheap) French hotel standards. However the rooms are quite austere. Mine overlooked the garden and was quiet, but the rooms which open up to the street probably have traffic noise until about 9 pm. People in the hallway were audible, but I did not hear voices in the neighboring rooms. The two double beds had decently firm matresses and good quality linens, but the mattresses were 5cm too short for me (I'm 175 cm. / 5' 9"). The closet had extra pillows and two good blankets, and the room had an AC unit. I'm not very demanding and would have been happy to have this quiet, clean room at an excellent price had the not the hot water gone south to about 25 deg. centrigrade when I awoke on the second morning. Not exactly cold but definitely not pleasant for a shower in November. Hot water returned an hour later, but I had to leave for an appointment by then. |The receptionist was on duty until around 9 p.m. and she and the morning person were very personable. I don't eat breakfast, so I cannot comment on the food, but the dining room, while bright, is pretty austere as well. I was only able to book with an up-front payment. Don't know if I would stay there again unless future reviews report that the hot water is back, and I can get a double bed.
Personnel très courtois et sympathique

A little Oasis. A tranquil bamboo lined walled garden which is secured at night gives this place a secure feel. It is a little tired but most places have been battered by a down turn caused by Covid. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, sheets were spotless, coffee was hot and free....wot is not to like. Stairs might put some off but I would certainly stay again.

Zimmer habe alles was man so braucht. Nettes Personal.

I am currently staying in room 12 at this hotel. I checked in on July 13th and was planning on leaving tomorrow morning (although I would much rather leave tonight). They said the air conditioning broke in my room so they put two (not very powerful) fans in my room instead. The fans did absolutely nothing and my room is currently about 85° Fahrenheit 30° Celsius). Also my room doesn’t have a toilet and neither do (I think) all of the other room. The entire floor of the hotel shares ONE toilet. On my floor, this toilet did not even flush so I told the lady at the front desk. She said she would call someone and when I got back later, she told me that the plumber people said that I have to push the flush button all the way down. I was pretty sure I was already doing that but I assumed that I had pushed the button wrong. When I went to the toilet again, I put my entire body weight onto the button and the toilet wouldn’t flush. I told the lady again and she said that she would call the plumber. It still hasn’t been fixed. They also do not provide soap in the shared bathroom. In addition, my room has a shower in it but there is no fan. Because of this, my room is a sauna/steam room especially paired with no AC. You will also get three keys and a code. Each key is used for a different door but all the keys look the same. And finally I am writing this review after one the receptionists WALKED INTO MY ROOM WITH NO KNOCK OR WARNING (at about 8pm). My room was locked and she had to unlock it to get in. I had assumed a person staying at the hotel was trying to unlock their room but mistakes theirs for mine, so I didn’t panic because I thought the key wouldn’t fit (so I didn’t say anything). I had on very few clothes due to the extreme heat in my room. I cant even describe how violated I feel right now especially as a solo female traveler. She opened the door made eye contact with me and then closed the door and tried to lock the door again. After a few minutes I went downstairs to ask her if she needed something and why she just came into my room. I also asked her for a discount on tonight or a refund because I don’t even feel safe staying here tonight and was trying to look for other places to go instead. She said she wasn’t the boss and couldn’t do anything and that what she did “wasn’t a crime” which I understand but it felt extremely dismissive. Do not stay here at all costs. I was going to book an air b n b instead but chose this place because it was more convenient to book through Hostelworld. I was expecting a real hotel to be more clean and professional than the hostels I have been staying in, but I was very wrong.
